Waves are all around us. From the radio waves that transmit television programs to the ultrasound waves used in medical diagnosis, waves are a constant part of our lives. Despite the ubiquity of waves, the notion of their interaction is a difficult one for many students.
While a single wave may be easy to picture, the interaction of several propagating waves is difficult to imagine. Accurately drawing the interference pattern of just two waves on a blackboard takes considerable effort. Depicting the interactions between waves with differing propertiesand simultaneously comparing those interactionsis simply not feasible. Textbooks are an improvement, but they still fail to represent the dynamic nature of waves.
Due to such limitations, introductory physics studies often cannot convey the full complexity of wave interaction. This situation is unfortunate, since a solid understanding of waves is necessary for productive future studies in physics and many other sciences.

Al's Programming Resource has been providing free online tutorials to the global community for over five and a half years to date and plans to continue in the same tradition for as long as we can foresee. The site has grown to over 212 pages of free information and 83 downloadable example programs which makes for a valuable source of free online tutorials and programming help. The site has far more potential and we hope that with the help of sponsorship that it will reach its full potential. Advertising is necessary for companies wishing to sell their products and for customers to find what is on offer. If it is done tastefully and not to excess then advertising is beneficial to both the retailer and the customer. It is for this reason that we have chosen to ask for direct sponsorship rather than filling the pages with pay per click advertising. It keeps the pages clean, allows us to be more selective in the type of products we endorse and allows the sole advertiser on the page to receive all of the focus from our visitors.

About The Physics Classroom Tutorial
The Physics Classroom Tutorial is an online physics tutorial written for high school physics students. The tutorial was originally developed for Regular-level Physics studens at Glenbrook South High School in Glenview, Illinois. These pages were once hosted on the Glenbrook South server. As the popularity of the pages grew, a decision was made to move them elsewhere in order to free up the burden placed upon the school's server by external traffic. Today the Tutorial pages and other original Glenbrook South resources are hosted by Study Works Online The Tutorial covers basic physics topics using informative graphics and an easy-to-understand language. Each unit is broken up into lessons and sub-lessons. Each lesson resembles the type and extent of coverage given to that physics topic in class. The sub-lessons are accompanied by Check Your Understanding sections, providing an opportunity to assess one's understanding of the lesson material.
The pages of The Physics Classroom tutorial (and other pages at this site) are made available as a service to physics students, physics teachers, and others. Their use is encouraged and is free of charge. Teachers who wish to use the pages either in a classroom demonstration format or as part of an interactive activity/lesson are granted permission (and encouraged) to do so.
