FOSS/ Lawrence Hall of Science
The San Francisco Unified School District uses FOSS kits for grades 3-5. The FOSS (Full Option Science System) kits for grades K-6 are produced by the Lawrence Hall of Science and published by Delta Education. They are kits organized in four strands, earth science, life science, physical science and scientific reasoning. One can search the FOSS book database for books which can be used to supplement the various kits. There is also a document correlating FOSS kits with the National Science Education Content Standards. The site also includes hints on how to use the FOSS kits in multiple classrooms and some notes on the development philosophy behind the kits.
EDC/Insights
The Educational Development Coorporation produces the Insights Inquiry-Based Elementary School Science Curriculum used by the San Francisco Unified School District.
