already on vacation. But I did find the course syllabi on the Web.
There were some helpful pointers there. Along with the confirmation

I belong to the WMST-L mentioned in a recent post
suggesting it as a source for better intro philosophy
texts. WMST-L maintains an archive of course syllabi
which you can access after subscribing to the list.
There are dozens and dozens of syllabi on file deposited
by the women who developed and used them, covering all
kinds of subjects and areas. This is a very valuable
resource for anyone looking for ideas on how to
structure a course or even just looking for a text.
It's nice to see how others have dealt with course structure/content problems that you are facing. When you subscribe, you should get a list of instructions that will include information on how to access the syllabi list.

Welcome to the Georgetown Philosophy Department The Georgetown University Philosophy Department is a vibrant community full of intellectual energy across an unusually broad range of philosophical traditions, from analytic to continental, topical to historical. The department offers both Ph.D. and M.A. programs. We expect our students, whatever their areas of specialization, to understand the systematic foundations of the positions they propose to defend and to be familiar with the origins of both the issues they address and the manner in which they intend to address them. It is for this reason that the graduate program has special requirements in logic, metaphysics, and epistemology and offers regularly scheduled courses on the major figures and periods in the history of this subject The faculty's broad diversity of styles and interests makes it impossible for someone to complete his or her course of studies knowing only one way of doing philosophy. We do not hope that our students will graduate without any established philosophical preferences. Instead we try to make sure that their approach is based on an informed comparison and that it is associated with the awareness that there is frequently more than one intelligent way to address a problem. David Hume, letter to Adam Smith, August, 1766 "Books seem to me to be pestilent things, and infect all who trade in them, i.e. all but one sort of men. Printers, Binders, Sellers and others that make a trade and gain out of them have universally so odde a turne and corruption of mind that they have a way of dealeing peculiar to them selves, and not conformed to the good of society, and that general fairness that cements man kind. Whether it be that these instruments of truth and knowledge will not bear being subjected to any thing but those noble ends, without revengeing them selves on those who medle with them to any other purpose, and prostitute to mean and misbecomeing designes I will not enquire. The matter of fact I think you will find true, and there we will leave it, to those who sully them selves with printers ink, till they wholly expunge all the candor that nature gives, and become the worst sort of Black cattle."

on-line , courtesy of the distinguished philosopher Jonathan Bennett. Very nice. UPDATE: Philosopher Matt Davidson points out something I should have noted more clearly initially: "One thing you might want to note is that he has 'cleaned up' the English in Locke, Hume, and Berkeley to try to make the texts more readable by beginning undergraduates. I make no evaluative claims here as to the merits of this particular project (though few are better candidates to do this sort of thing than JB). But it might be worth pointing out in case a reader sees your link and thinks, 'These texts already are all over the web. Why do I need to see another website with them?' The answer is that Bennett is doing something very different with his attempts to make Modern texts 'accessible.'" July 30, 2004 in

A number of etexts of famous philosophers.

Last update: MARCH 19, 1999 Hello there, Philosophy buffs!
Although, Philosophy is almost a kind of strange deviation, I dare give you this HTML file about this funny subject, or at least give you works of others who know (but mostly knew) much more about it: Plato, Descartes, Locke and others. That collection below will get larger!
Philosophy originated from two greek words (please excuse possibly wrong spelling but I'm a Czech and I know only the Czech transcriptions of the words...) "philein" and "sophia" (really, if my English spellings of these two Greek words aren't right, let me know). Both words put together mean something like "love to the wisdom" and I must say that it has only a little to do with looking for the sense of life.
So, I'd better stop blabbing on and on. Here are the works I found thanks to the Online Books Page to which I gratefully link below.
