    THE ELUSIVE DRAGON ACADEMY
    OF MARTIAL ARTS
    sensei_@hotmail.com
    ABOUT MYSELF
I am a 4th Degree Black Belt in Okinawan Kenpo Karate, and I hold ranks in two other styles, Goshin Jutsu Jujitsu and No Tora Ryu (AMERICAN TIGER STYLE)and I study other styles to enhance my education. Martial arts is a very important part of my life. I love teaching and sharing what I have learned with others. I teach at my dojo and also the YWCA. I love teaching and I teach eclectic(whatever works, use it). My base style is okinawan kenpo the root of where I started the study of martial arts. I feel that we can learn from all styles. I feel each art form has many things that are helpful to know. I am against all violent acts unless there is no other way out of a bad situation. I do workshops and demos at schools and for organizations to teach self defense and also to make teenagers aware of alternatives to drug abuse and gang involvement. Martial arts promotes self esteem, and better mental and physical health, balance, learning to respect yourself as well as others. You learn to never use force unless there is no other choice. These are just a few of the many benefits that the martial arts has to offer to a person studying this ancient art form...
I am presently in the martial arts magazine "Martial Arts Insider", a wonderful internationally circulated magazine, with a photo drill, article, and tribute to Prof. Wally Jay. It is an honor to be in this issue with the tribute to Professor Wally Jay as I admire him so much. My work also appears in Insights Into Martial Arts Magazine in New Zealand, with a photo drill and writings. Some of my drills and tips for martial artists are featured in Ron Sell's I Tip Book. I also write and have had things published in the past. I am currently working on several books.

    History of Philosophy
The Wave Structure of Matter (WSM) as a Simple Sensible Solution to the Historical Problems of Philosophy
Greek philosophy seems to begin with a preposterous fancy, with the proposition that water is the origin and mother-womb of all things. Is it really necessary to stop there and become serious? Yes, and for three reasons: firstly, because the preposition does enunciate something about the origin of things; secondly, because it does so without figure and fable; thirdly and lastly, because it contained, although only in the chrysalis state, the idea :everything is one. ..That which drove him (Thales) to this generalization was a metaphysical dogma, which had its origin in a mystic intuition and which together with the ever renewed endeavors to express it better, we find in all philosophies- the proposition: everything is one!
INHERITED FAULTS OF PHILOSOPHERS. All philosophers have the common fault, that they look upon man as a thing unchangeable in all commotion, as a sure standard of things. But everything that the philosopher says about man is really nothing more than testimony about man of a very limited space of time. A lack of the historical sense is the hereditary fault of all philosophers.
Friedrich Nietzsche Time was, when she (Metaphysics) was the queen of all the sciences; and, if we take the will for the deed, she certainly deserves, so far as regards the high importance of her object-matter, this title of honour. Now, it is the fashion of the time to heap contempt and scorn upon her; and the matron mourns, forlorn and foresaken, like Hecuba .. her empire gradually broke up, and intestine wars introduced the reign of anarchy; while the sceptics, like nomatic tribes, who hate a permanent habitation and settled mode of living, attacked from time to time those who had organized themselves into civil communities. But their number was, very happily, small; and thus they could not entirely put a stop to the exertions of those who persisted in raising new edifices, although on no settled or uniform plan. (

History and Philosophy of Project Gutenberg
    By Michael S. Hart
    The Beginning
Project Gutenberg began in 1971 when Michael Hart was given an operator's account with $100,000,000 of computer time in it by the operators of the Xerox Sigma V mainframe at the Materials Research Lab at the University of Illinois. This was totally serendipitous, as it turned out that two of a four operator crew happened to be the best friend of Michael's and the best friend of his brother. Michael just happened "to be at the right place at the right time" at the time there was more computer time than people knew what to do with, and those operators were encouraged to do whatever they wanted with that fortune in "spare time" in the hopes they would learn more for their job proficiency. At any rate, Michael decided there was nothing he could do, in the way of "normal computing," that would repay the huge value of the computer time he had been given ... so he had to create $100,000,000 worth of value in some other manner. An hour and 47 minutes later, he announced that the greatest value created by computers would not be computing, but would be the storage, retrieval, and searching of what was stored in our libraries. He then proceeded to type in the "Declaration of Independence" and tried to send it to everyone on the networks ... which can only be described today as a not so narrow miss at creating an early version of what was later called the "Internet Virus."

Philosophy by Region Including University Philosophy Departments Note that many of these links will take you to little more than course details or a contact address, while others offer a wide range of information both local and global. I've recommended a few outstanding pages, but otherwise you're on your own. The division into broad geographical areas is sometimes a little rough and ready. For example, rather than making a separate section for something like "South-Western Asia", I've placed Armenia in the "Middle East" section. If any geographer can suggest a better (but simple) scheme, I'm willing to listen. (For a listing of the world's Universities on the Internet, see Christina DeMello 's page. Among the various international mirrors of her site, there's one with a very good search engine at Innsbruck . Without the help of Christina's pages, my own would look much, much thinner. Finally, I've introduced separate pages for Continuing Education University Presses

    Marsden Fund Award
In the latest Marsden Fund round, Professors Cynthia Macdonald and Graham Macdonald have been awarded a grant to investigate the question of whether minds make a causal difference to behaviour, and if so, how. Their project is to develop a theory of mental causation that will have ramifications for the nature of explanation in the social sciences.
David Novitz Prize The winner of the David Novitz Prize for 2005 is Hamish Bridges. This Scholarship was established in 2003 in memory of Associate Professor David Novitz, who taught philosophy at Canterbury from 1971 until his untimely death in 2001.
National Endowment for the Humanities Award Professor Cynthia Macdonald has been awarded one of the very prestigious National Endowment for the Humanities Awards for 2005-6. The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) is an independent federal agency created in 1965. It is the largest funder of humanities programs in the United States. The purpose for which this fellowship was awarded is to facilitate research and original scholarship. As Jim Turner from the NEH stated,it's a great achievement in a very competitive program.
