I am going to do this as part of NEIS. ( New Enterprise Incentive Scheme) so as try to earn an ethical income whilst I put myself thru the practical work of a Permaculture Diploma. Does anyone want this out there What about including stocking other types of permaculture plants too?

Statement of Purpose
The purpose of the Association for Baha'i Studies Agriculture Seminar is to call attention to the emphasis that the Baha'i Writings place on agriculture and its importance to community, and to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and for consultation on the practical application of these Writings.
The Agriculture Seminar is a network of Baha'is interested in agriculture and community development, some of whom have formed regional groups, and several of whom have initiated agricultural projects that work in cooperation with the seminar. The seminar's organizing committee believes agriculture to be a crucial issue, both because of its prominence in the Writings and because of the events of these times. It is the hope of the committee that the seminar can make a contribution to meeting the spiritual and material challenges ahead.
ABS Provides Opportunities to Apply Writings
by Nancy McIntyre Many Baha'is say that they hesitate to join the ABS because they think of it as too intellectual; yet this arm of the Baha'i Faith has provided continuing encouragement and assistance to the Agriculture Seminar, a very practical group. Let us give our individual support to the ABS and its work, and appreciate its high standards of study and communication.

The concentration in Permaculture is an emphasis available to students in the Agricultural Studies major. Permaculture is a design approach for agro-ecosystems. With a focus on long-term sustainability, it emphasizes ecological principles and diversity of plant and animal combinations suited to the characteristics of places and cultures. As such, it is appropriate for students who are concerned with resource issues, agriculture, community development, and land use planning.

    (G) A Few More Links (H) About The Planet-Friendly (A) Introduction We all eat. But few of us have anything to do with the source of our daily fare. We trust that healthy and ample food will appear, like magic, in the grocery store. We trust the corporations, the "food system", that creates this apparent miracle. Many are trying to find and communicate answers to these questions. Next weekend is the annual "Guelph Organic Conference", probably Canada's largest event related to this topic. World-renowned food system analyst & author Brewster Kneen comes to Ontario with appearances in Guelph (Jan 27-28), Waterloo (Jan 29), Kitchener (Jan 29), Toronto (Jan 30), Edgehill (Jan 31), Lindsay (Feb 1) and Peterborough (Feb 2 & 3). Also, "Science & the Public Good", with Ralph Nader, Maude Barlow, Ann Clark and others, is being held in Ottawa on Fri. Feb. 16. This issue of the Planet-Friendly focuses on upcoming events & resources related to food. Future editions will include additional listings as they come available (you can find them quickly by searching for "food" or "agriculture"). First prize - Nansindlela Primary School, KwaZulu Natal
When the project began, the school was unattractive and had lots of bare ground. There were no flower or vegetable gardens. Now there are trees, flowers, vegetables, pathways, play areas and a pond. Water is pumped from a small pond using a pedal powered pump (which affords the children as much fun as it is useful). Soil is mulched using leaves, grass cuttings, newspapers, cardboard and sticks. A big box of earthworms produces compost. Nothing goes to waste at Nansindlela. Scrap paper is used for mulching and also for making papier mache in art class. Cans are collected for recycling. Glass jars are used for storing paint and other liquids. Juice and milk cartons are utilised as planters. Phone cards are painted over and made into plant labels.

    AGRICULTURE
    Introduction
The GP's aim is to create an ecologically sustainable and fair society. Our agriculture policy seeks to pursue this aim with respect to the production of food and other agriculturally derived products. In stating this policy we acknowledge that the soil is the basis of wealth upon which all land-based life depends and that "sustainable" must be understood in a holistic, earth-wide context. We recognise the fundamental importance of those who work on the land. The Agriculture policy cannot be taken in isolation from other policies; in particular it relates very closely to the forestry, food, land and countryside sections and also the sections on animal rights, economy, energy, the marine environment and others. It is related to the population policy in that we need to balance our ways of obtaining resources for living with population and productivity of the land; there must be an optimum population whose needs can be met sustainably from our land resources.
    Background
Current industrialised, intensive farming methods of agriculture are not sustainable in that they:
