Music Overview Welcome to the UArts School of Music, a close-knit community of working professional performers, composers, arrangers, and recognized scholars. We are dedicated to our students and forging the future of the music profession. I'm glad you've taken the time to visit our website to see if you'd like to join us in Philadelphia. At UArts you will develop the necessary musicianship, critical perspectives, and entrepreneurial know-how to be successful in the music profession. We offer intensely focused programs that provide the skills and knowledge needed to pursue careers in performance, composition or arranging, and music education, with an emphasis on jazz and contemporary music. You will choose one of three majors: instrumental performance, vocal performance, or composition, honing your skills by working in small classes and private lessons with a faculty of superb professional musicians. You will also participate in monthly workshops with clinicians who represent the best of the contemporary music industry. UArts students are active performing in University and professional ensembles of all kinds throughout the region.
