WELCOME TO MAGIC SNAIL!
Welcome to MagicSnail!
We're here to explore the world of gardening together. I must admit I'm a novice gardener having only purchased my home 3 years ago, but I am learning fast and anxious to see my garden come to life again this year.
Here I'll share what I've learned through reading, experience and the advice of gardeners far more experienced than me. I come from a family of farmers so hopefully I inherited a bit of a green thumb.
I'll share my experiences as we go down the Magic Snail trail so that all our visitors can learn from my successes and failures! Check the trail for updates often as things are changing quickly since Spring has Sprung! :)

Welcome to Daylily-Garden-Perennials.com . Premium hybrid daylilies - direct from the grower . Daylilies are the perfect perennial for any garden design. Ideal for container gardening, ornamental gardening, cottage gardens, perennial landscaping and much more.
a Creating a perennial garden is an investment in years of summer flowers. You don't have to have a green thumb to enjoy our carefree, easy to grow, daylily collection. You can change a previously unused area into a stunning collection of color. Consider planting daylilies on a slope that is too difficult to mow, or to beautify the foundation of your house, or simply a roadside planting. The daylily will flourish almost anywhere you choose to plant them. Daylilies thrive almost anywhere and they multiply and spread. They can be used as erosion protection or ground cover. They require minimum care yet they bloom year after year. Because of their durability and low maintenance qualities, daylilies are very desirable in public and commercial landscaping. Within our website you will see more colors and varieties of daylilies than you would see if you visited every store and garden center in your area. Our daylilies are premium hybrids that have been carefully cultivated from parents with such desirable qualities as long blooming time and large colorful flowers.

You also should research the bloom times so that your garden will have color through an extended period of time. Think about combinations for certain times of the year; group some like-timed flowers for seasonal fireworks (see my companion gardening article for more information on how to balance out your garden). Categories: Hard-cover Garden Bookworm editor's notes: The difference between a garden that looks its best for a few brief days and one that delights the eye for weeks and months on end is frequently just a matter of good planning and judicious care. Tracy DiSabato-Aust has devoted years to studying how to plan and care for perennials so that a garden can be a real showplace with a minimum of maintenance.
The first key to success lies in good site planning and plant selection that emphasizes each plant's strengths. Following that in importance is learning how and when to prune and shape perennials to produce more flowers, encourage lush new growth, discourage pests, stagger bloom times, and maintain vigorous health.
Amazingly, this is the first book that covers this essential topic in detail, although books on pruning woody plants abound. Deadheading, pinching, cutting back, thinning, disbudding, and deadleafing are among the techniques in the gardener's arsenal that are thoroughly explained and illustrated. An extensive encyclopedia of important perennial species and cultivars explains the pruning and maintenance needs of each plant. Wonderfully useful appendices offer a month-by-month planting and maintenance schedule for the typical perennial garden.

Sandy Hill Flower Farm HOME Hummingbird Attracting Plants September 1, 2005 Dear Gardening Friends, It is with mixed emotions that I wish to announce the closing of Sandy Hill Flower Farm. As I look forward to my continued work at Brookgreen Gardens and a more balanced life, I am also sad to end the Sandy Hill Flower Farm connection with the Grand Strand gardening community. It has been a gratifying 16 years of getting to know so many of you and assisting you in creating your gardens. I wish to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your patronage and for allowing me to make a living following my passion for plants and gardening. Starting September 6, we will begin selling off our remaining stock, initially at 25% off regular price. We ask that payment be made for any purchases with cash or check. We will no longer accept credit or debit cards. Although we have not grown many of our traditional crops of fall flowers, we do have, as always, a great final selection of plant material to sell. Judy and Marlene will be available to assist you Tuesday-Saturday, 9am-4pm until we sell out. Please give us a call if you have any questions or concerns about our closing. I have come to the conclusion that people who are passionate about gardening are some of the finest and most interesting people in the world. It has been a privilege and an honor to be a part of your gardening world.

Welcome to Ellie's Perennial Gardens located in central Maine. We have been growing and selling perennials for the past 15 years. In the year 2000 we began to specialize in daylilies and to date grow 450 cultivars. We are members of the American Hemerocallis Society and we are an official AHS Display Garden. We are licensed and State inspected. To date no rust has been found in Maine.
Ellie with a happy customer
Hemerocallis 'Catherine Woodbury' Our mission is to keep one step behind the modern-day hybridizers, in order to have affordable selections while still offering up-to-date cultivars. Our largest collection from one hybridizer is of Pat Stamile's Candy Series. We grow 24 of the Candies. We love the colors, the size and the rapid propagation. My husband, Bruce, and I had the opportunity to visit Grace and Pat as well as Jane and Dan Trimmer at their nurseries in Enterprise, Florirda in the spring of 2004. This was educational for us because we do not hybridize.
An array of spiders
Hemerocallis 'Wineberry Candy' hybridized by Patrick Stamile Our plants are grown in raised beds on our home property. We dig, label, and bag each plant for transporting. We do ship but our passion is in meeting other enthusiatic daylily folks from Maine as well as around the country.
