We love our family. Most of our ancestors are of Pennsylvania Dutch extraction. Some were "Gay Dutch", i.e. Luthers and Reformed. Some were "Plain Dutch", i.e. Amish, Mennonite and Brethren. But whatever the case, they were a hard working, God fearing people whom we revere and love. They made it possible for us to be here today. We dedicate these pages to those that went before us. Thank you!! About the FamilyHart Online Database:
We have been doing genealogy for years. Our particular brand of genealogy research focuses on identifying our imigrant ancestors and then collecting all of the descendants of that individual. In so doing we have collected over 440,000 people in our database. Along the way we have obtained many non-related collateral lines as well. Our database can now be viewed online by just digging in or by following some of the other entry points found below. We hope that you find enjoyment here. ADVICE: When any financial institution or any other entity asks you for your mother's maiden name for identification purposes, give them a ficticious name. These companies really don't care if you give them a false name or not. All they want is an easy-to-remember code phrase to identify you. Mother's maiden names are too easy to come by these days to use for identification purposes.

Helping You Climb Your Family Tree
Another of my Family Tree Sites
Our families are the nucleus of the larger world and where we find the food, shelter, protection, provision and social interaction in our early years. Much later in life when we begin to yearn for the protection and comfort of family, many of the special people of our youth are gone. To have known those people is a blessing since we share their biological genes and often their dreams. They are a part of who we are today, how we live and how we believe.
Information about the ancestors who have created our very beings will hopefully make us more secure in the understanding of their humanity. They were not just names in old Bibles or on tombstones. These people lived in a changing country and faced ordeals we can only read about. At the same time, they faced the age-old decisions about love, marriage, caring for a family, religion, education, sickness and death, the same as we face.
I have been researching my ancestors for over 25 years, and I am sharing some of what I have learned and hope it will help you. Use this material freely in your search. If you copy any of it in its entirety, please reference the source.

Links Not many Berks Countians have roots as deep as Oley's Sacred Oak, believed to be the oldest yellow oak in the United States. Estimated at between 300 to 500 years old, the tree measures over 21 feet in circumference, is 85 feet high, and spreads it branches over 120 feet. Indians were said to hold religious ceremonies under the tree. In the words of a local historian, "legends do not have shallow roots, and this was said to be a healing godhead of unusual importance, in part because this mysterious yellow oak is not native to Oley or the entire state of Pennsylvania." We get many requests for genealogical information and links, so we've prepared this collection of various resources to get you started on your genealogical research.
