2-3-101. Establishment of Department of Tribal Probation and Parole
. There is established a Tribal Department of Probation and Parole (hereafter "the Department"), the purposes of which include the protection of the Reservation community by providing for the acceptance of custody and the supervision and rehabilitation of juvenile and adult offenders placed on probation or released on parole by the Tribal Court.
2-3-102. Organization of the Department . The Department is managed by a Department Head, subject to the supervision of the Tribal Executive Secretary, and is comprised of adult probation officers, juvenile probation officers, community service officers, support staff, and such other personnel as may be deemed necessary and approved by the Tribal Council by means of its budgeting process.

As used in this section "court services data" means data that are created, collected, used or maintained by a court services department, parole or probation authority, correctional agency, or by an agent designated by the court to perform studies or other duties and that are on individuals who are or were defendants, parolees or probationers of a municipal, district or county court, participants in diversion programs, petitioners or respondents to a family court, or juveniles adjudicated delinquent and committed, detained prior to a court hearing or hearings, or found to be dependent or neglected and placed under the supervision of the court. Contact Us The following are the major duties of the Juvenile Probation and Parole Department: Court Processing: If the case requires a hearing (e.g. the child committed a delinquent act that rises to the level of a felony offense), the Juvenile Probation Department assists in preparing the case for Court by reporting findings, making recommendations and conducting any additional investigations ordered by the Judge. Pre-Disposition Investigation: The Juvenile Probation Department will promptly respond to youth cited for committing delinquent acts. An initial investigation shall be conducted to determine whether it is in the interest of public safety and accountability to require that the case be handled in Juvenile Court or supervised by Juvenile Probation. Emergency Services: If a police department has detained a youth alleged to have committed a delinquent act who requires secure detention or shelter placement, the Juvenile Probation Department shall take the youth into custody.

Adds juvenile parole and probation officers, special advocates, officers and agents of the state bureau of animal protection, and animal control officers to the list of persons required to report child abuse or neglect. National Training and Technical Assistance Events Event: In July 2004, CSOM conducted a one-day training on sex offender management for a national audience of 85 probation and parole representatives and other stakeholders at the APPA Training Institute Orlando, Florida. Event: In June 2004, at the request of the National Association of Attorneys General, CSOM provided a consultant to participate as a panelist on sex offender management and to deliver a presentation on the collaborative approach to sex offender management in Connecticut during the association's national meeting in Washington, DC. Event: In May 2004, CSOM staff and consultants presented an overview of the comprehensive approach to sex offender management, with an emphasis on opportunities for various levels of prevention (primary, secondary and tertiary) to about 100 participants at the National Sexual Violence Prevention Conference in Los Angeles, California. Event: In May 2004, CSOM staff delivered a half-day intensive training session on juvenile sex offender management to about 30 juvenile sex offender treatment providers, juvenile justice agency administrators, juvenile supervision officers, and researchers at the 19th Annual Conference of the National Adolescent Perpetration Network in Portland, Oregon. Event: In May 2004, at the request of the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, CSOM consultants conducted three workshops on the effective management of sex offenders in the community at the 23rd Annual Probation and Justice Management Conference in Nashville, Tennessee.

The new office is one of 12 parole and probation offices that provide supervision services including visits with parole officers; and referrals to education, housing, employment, counseling, alcohol and drug treatment, and other services. The community center staff has also been doing outreach with local businesses for a loss prevention project. The public is invited to attend and learn more about the programs and services that Parole and Probation delivers in the community. “Our officers work diligently, with limited resources, to ensure public safety, provide victims services, and hold offenders accountable,” said Grant Nelson, Lane County Parole and Probation program manager. “Public safety is their first and foremost concern.
