The park was named for General Nathan Bedford Forrest, the intrepid Confederate cavalry leader, who on November 4, 1864, attacked and destroyed the federal supply and munitions depot at (Old) Johnsonville at the mouth of Trace Creek. His operations were concentrated along the river in the vicinity of the park and the town of Eva. In 1929 the park was dedicated to Nathan Bedford Forrest on land acquired in part from Benton County. Forrest was one of the greatest military tacticians and leaders of the American Civil War. Directions Take Exit 126 on Interstate 40 and travel North on Hwy. 641 for 15 miles to Camden. Your Dog and City Parks
Friendly Reminders when Bringing Your Dog to a Park All dogs shall be maintained on a leash not to exceed 8 feet, this includes trails and canyons in all parks. For those parks that have been designated dog off leash areas, dogs must be leashed until inside the posted boundary for the off leash area. Dogs benefit by being protected from rattlesnakes, ticks, traffic and various other hazards and distractions. In addition, poison oak is spread from dogs to humans. We understand that people love their dogs and want a place for them to run free, play fetch, and socialize with other dogs. The City of San Diego has designated off leash dog areas for just this reason. It is necessary to keep your pets within the boundaries of the posted "Designated Dog Off Leash" areas as the perimeters may be unsafe for your dog (ex. traffic, sharp objects that can injure them). Please adhere to the posted park rules and also...
  • Always pick up after your pet Do not bring a puppy to the dog park until he or she has had all required vaccinations Be sure that your dog’s required vaccinations are up to date for the health of all dogs on site Be sure that your dog is wearing a current license on his or her collar from the County Department of Animal Services
If you would like to establish a leash free dog park in your area, or add amenities to the existing dog park in your area, please call the Park and Recreation Department’s Park Planning and Development Division at (619) 525-8222. A public process may be implemented that will include input and evaluation from dog owners and community members.

156. Independent Racing Season Starts Under Cloud Of Proposed Hunting Ban
Mick Connaughton. This year could be the last that pointto-pointing takes place in its traditional format, as it has always relied heavily on voluntary labour from the local fox hunt to man the car parks, sell racecards and the hundred other tasks required to make a meeting run smoothly. At best the current bill being debated in Parliament will drastically reduce the number of hunts and therefore the number of point-to-points.

HARRISBURG (April 11, 1996) The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) announced today that six additional state parks will participate in the statewide cleanup April 20 to help the parks recover from this winter's storms. More than 60 percent of Pennsylvania's 116 state parks suffered damage from this winter's snow and flooding. Total damage estimates at state parks and state forests exceed $28 million. Added to the existing list of 34 state parks participating in the cleanup are: Canoe Creek State Park, Blair County; Prince Gallitzin State Park, Cambria County; Caledonia State Park, Franklin County; Cowans Gap State Park, Fulton County; Greenwood Furnace State Park, Huntingdon County; and Little Buffalo State Park, Perry County. The participating parks throughout the state will be ready Saturday, April 20 to accept volunteers to work on small and large cleanup projects. Most of the work will consist of removing debris and trash, clearing brush, planting trees, repairing trails, and spreading mulch. Volunteers are encouraged to bring work gloves.
