Pakistan Asia
CULTURE Pakistan shares influences that have shaped the cultures of South Asia. There are thus wider regional similarities extending beyond the national boundaries. On the other hand, the specific regional cultures of Pakistan present a picture of rich diversity. It is difficult, therefore, to speak of a single Pakistani culture. Family organization is strongly patriarchal, as in most agrarian societies, and most people live in large extended families.
Pakistani food is similar to that of northern India, with a dollop of Middle Eastern influence thrown in for good measure. This means menus peppered with baked and deep-fried breads (roti, chapattis, puri, halwa and nan), meat curries, lentil mush (dhal), spicy spinach, cabbage, peas and rice, and of course that staple of hippies, the sturdy Hunza pie. Street snacks - samosas and tikkas (spiced and barbecued beef, mutton or chicken) - are delicious, while a range of desserts will satisfy any sweet tooth.

Online Birthday Registeration Party Tips PARTY TIPS FOR THE YOUNG ONES. 1.Artists and Models: Provide old white dress shirts for each guest, and a set of markers. A great activity for the guests is creating works of art on each other's shirts. The souvenir is the collective art shirt. 2.Creative Crafts: These parties are very popular, especially with girls of all ages. A favorite is tissue flower making, where the materials for each guest cost under a dollar. Gather recyclables and turn your crafters loose on their own floral creations. Guys will get into painting baseball hats or t-shirts.

On this page: Wikipedia Mentioned In Or search: - The Web - Images - News - Blogs - Shopping Culture of Pakistan Wikipedia Culture of Pakistan Pakistan has a rich and unique cultural heritage, and has actively preserved its established traditions throughout history. Many cultural practices and monuments have been inherited from the rule of Mughal emperors. Pakistani society is largely multilingual and multicultural. Religious practices of various faiths are an integral part of everyday life in society. Education is highly regarded by members of every socio-economic stratum. The traditional family values are highly respected and considered sacred, although urban families have grown into a nuclear family system, owing to the socio-economic constraints imposed by the traditional joint family system. Past few decades have seen emergence of a middle class in cities such as Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Faislabad, Sukkur, Peshawar, Gujarat, Attobabad, Multan, etc. The North-western part of Pakistan, bordering with Afghanistan, is highly conservative and dominated by regional tribal customs dating back to hundreds of years.

Inspired by Scouses/Basics awesome review of his visit to Pakistan, I too have decided to review my visit to the Great country they call Pakistan..
    The Journey There
Islamabad is an eight hour journey from my home town of Manchester, so comfort is something which cannot be compromised when travelling there. Having looked at all the options of flying with award winning carriers like Emirates and Qatar, I decided on not travelling with them and chose PIA... The reason being, pakistan is stressful as it is, and the last thing i wanted to do was hop on and off planes when coming back, and wanted to be back home in a quick 8 hour journey... So PIA it was...
I chose to travel in Ecomony Plus Class this time round and paid the extra for it... I was sick of sitting in shitty uncomfortable seats with the array of children screaming down my ear... and Economy Plus was definately an excellent choice.. I had enough leg room to stretch out my legs full length in front of me, and the best thing was the class was pretty empty so I had 3 seats to myself which meant I could lie down and sleep the whole journey!! RESULT!! The inflight entertainment was a bit crap, but i took my laptop with me so that was good enough entertainment for me!! The best thing about PIA is the food... i have travelled with a few carriers and PIA definately has the best food... tandoori chicken, with rice and veggies and a serving of lamb karahi.. it was delicious...

Street snacks - samosas and tikkas (spiced and barbecued beef, mutton or chicken) - are delicious, while a range of desserts will satisfy any sweet tooth. The most common sweet is barfi (it pays to overlook the name), which is made of dried milk solids and comes in a variety of flavours. Though Pakistan is officially 'dry', it does brew its own beer and spirits which can be bought (as well as imported alcohol) from specially designated bars and top-end hotels.
    Environment
Most flights from European and Asian centres arrive in Karachi, though a few also go to Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta and Gwadar (Baluchistan). Much more interesting is taking an overland route. A railway links Lahore with the Indian railway system through Amritsar, and another from Quetta crosses briefly into Iran. After the Grand Trunk Road, the most famous road into Pakistan is the Karakoram Highway, over the 4730m (15,514ft) Khunjerab Pass from Kashgar in China; roads also run from India and Iran. A bus service between Delhi and Lahore is also up and running. Sea passage is a possibility, with cargo ships calling at Karachi from either the Middle East or Bombay.

Safety Issues/Sectarian Tension Travellers are advised to monitor government and consular information before travel to Karachi following a series of suicide bombs and sectarian unrest. Avoid travel to Waziristan, to northern and western Baluchistan, western North West Frontier Province (NWFP), the Federally-Administered Tribal Areas and Agencies (FATA), and border areas other than official crossings. In Sindh Province, anti-Western sentiment occasionally bubbles over into violence. Visitors to upper Sindh are encouraged to notify authorities beforehand.
