In Syriac, Margoneetho means 'a pearl'. Syriac Christian literature depicts the pearl variously, as a symbol of our Lord, faith and the human soul. Like an exquisite pearl hidden in an oyster, the spiritual heritage of the Syriac Orthodox Church, one of the most ancient Christian churches, remains obscure to much of the world today. The Margoneetho : Syriac Orthodox Resources web site attempts to illuminate this rich and ancient heritage.
SOR is not an "official" web Site of the Syriac Orthodox Church, but receives encouragement and support from its hierarchy. Bread for the Soul Recent Publications Rev. Stephen Griffith Reports

The Eastern Orthodox Church (encompassing national Orthodox jurisdictions such as Bulgarian Orthodox Greek Orthodox Russian Orthodox ... see Eastern Orthodox Church organization ) is a body of Christians whose origins extend directly back to Jesus and his Apostles through unbroken Apostolic Succession . It is then seen as developing its doctrines further through a series of church councils, the most authoritative being the "Seven Ecumenical Councils" held between the 4th and 8th centuries. The present-day influence of the Orthodox Church encompasses the territories associated with the former Byzantine and Russian empires: Eastern Europe , Asia ( Russia Siberia ), parts of the Middle East and Africa . Today, although Orthodoxy's strongest influence can be seen in Greece Russia , and Georgia , the Orthodox Church has a presence in a great many countries, with large communities in the USA and Australia

68. Orthodox Judaism - Wikipedia, The Free Encyclopedia
orthodox Judaism formed in reaction to the creation of the Reform Movement ofJudaism. Many orthodox Jews prefer to call their faith Torah Judaism.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orthodox_Judaism
Orthodox Judaism
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
Orthodox Judaism is that stream of Judaism which adheres to a relatively strict interpretation and application of the laws and ethics first canonized in the Talmud ("The Oral Law") and later codified in the Shulkhan Arukh ("Code of Jewish Law"). It is governed by these works and all the Rabbinical commentary and further codification of them written throughout the last millennium. The role of Rabbi in Orthodox Judaism is to interpret and apply classical Rabbinical rulings and logic to any given question or situation. Orthodox Jews believe that the Torah , including both the Written Law and the Oral Law , was given directly from God to Moses and can never be altered or rejected in any way. There are other central Principles of Faith important, but not unique to, Orthodox Jews. While belief in the divinity of the Torah and the right of the Sages and Rabbis to fully interpret and apply it is the primary unifying tenet of Orthodox Judaism, Orthodox Jews classify themselves into several subgroups. The greatest differences are over the degree to which an Orthodox Jew should integrate and/or disengage from modern secular society. Other important topics of debate are 1) the relative value of Torah study versus secular studies or other pursuits, 2) the importance of a central spiritual guide (outside of Halakhic decision), 3) the importance of maintaining non-Halakhic customs, such as dress, language, and music, and 4) the relationship of the modern state of

In 1900, a group of Greek immigrant laborers, shoe shiners, coal miners, and prospectors, seeking gold in the Rockies, migrated to the Western Metropolis of Denver, Colorado. Equipped only with the resources and treasures of their rich historical heritage, the religious faith of their fathers, and the inborn responsibility of carrying the torch of the religion and traditions, they organized the Hellenic Orthodox Church, "The Assumption," in Denver, in November, 1906. 74. St. Nicholas
A tribute to the saint and a photograph of the ikon on the east wall of the north transept of the church.
http://www.sspeterpaul.org/st_nick.htm
St. Nicholas the Wonderworker Archbishop of Myra and Lykia St. Nicholas is one of the most widely venerated saints in all Christiandom. The honour extended to him includes not only the Orthodox and Roman Catholics, but Protestant denominations as well. He is honoured even by Muslims. In the weekly liturgical cycle of the Orthodox Church, in which each day of the week is dedicated to the Saviour and the different orders of heavenly and earthly sanctity, only three persons are singled out by name: the Mother of God, John the Forerunner and St. Nicholas. This latter is quite extraordinary given that he left neither theological works nor other writings. Rather, the Church sees in him the personification of the shepherd, the one who par excellence is both defender and intercessor. He was born of eminent and wealthy parents, and instructed in thhe spiritual life by his uncle Nicholas, bishop of Patara. He later became a monk at New Sion Monastery. On the death of his parents, he distributed all the property he inherited to the poor, keeping nothing back for himself. As a priest of Patara, he was known for his charitable works, fulfilling the Lord's words: "Let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth." (St. Matthew 6:3). Though it was his wish to lead the life of a solitary in silence, he was made the Bishop of Myra in the province of Lykia. Continuing his charitable works, he also endured persecution being imprisoned during the persecutions of Diocletian and Maximian. He was presnet at the First Ecumenical Council in Nicaea in 325.

Orthodox Judaism
Orthodox Judaism is not a unified movement with a single governing body, but many different movements adhering to common principles. All of the Orthodox movements are very similar in their observance and beliefs, differing only in the details that are emphasized. They also differ in their attitudes toward modern culture and the state of Israel. They all share one key feature: a dedication to Torah , both Written and Oral
Origins of the Movement
Historically, there was no such thing as Orthodoxy; in fact, you find the particular term is used primarily in North America (elsewhere the distinction is primarily between "more observant" and "less observant"). The specific term "Orthodox Judaism" is of rather recent origin and is used more as a generic term to differentiate the movements following traditional practices from the Liberal Jewish movements.
Theology
Orthodox Judaism views itself as the continuation of the beliefs and practices of normative Judaism, as accepted by the Jewish nation at Mt. Sinai and codified in successive generations in an ongoing process that continues to this day.
Orthodox Judaism believes that both the Written and Oral Torah are of divine origin, and represent the word of Gd. This is similar to the view of the Conservative movement, but the Orthodox movement holds that such information (except for scribal errors) is the exact word of God and does not represent any human creativity or influence. For the Orthodox, the term "Torah" refers to the "Written Law" as interpreted by the "Oral Law," interpreted in turn by the Rishonim (Medieval commentators), and eventually codified in the Codices:
