Yglecias's Gardening Tips
Gardening for some is a way of life, and for others is a nice hobby to keep them occupied. Regardless of the purpose of your garden, I have created this web page to offer methods of gardening as well as some helpful gardening tips to any whom may be interested. Being a certified Master Gardener in Arizona, I have come up with ways of gardening that uses less water consumption and provides pest free gardening that yields some of the freshest tasting vegetables I've ever had. I am experienced in both Hydroponics and Organic gardening in the Arizona climate. Contrary to popular belief, you CAN grow crops year around using the systems I have developed and tested myself. The system above has been in use year around for the last 3 years and has been very successful in producing several varieties of vegetables for consumption. If you are interested in learning more about gardening and how to set up your own in this hot desert sun, take a look at the links below, as I have provided information on how you can get started, as well as some helpful hints with managing your garden.

Market Gardening, Mini-farming, Mini-ranching
The information contained here is provided to promote raised bed agriculture (rba) and minifarming. My emphasis is on using organic and biointensive growing methods to achieve more production with smaller acreage. Mini-Agriculture Benefits Your Community Whether for job training, crime prevention, school gardens or the mentally or physically disabled, urban agriculture has a proven track record for improving the quality of our communities. Vacant lots and land are everywhere in our country, land which can be used for food production, waste recycling, garden areas and beautification of our cities. More Minifarming Commercial Applications Through free enterprise and micro-entrepreneurship both urban and rural mini-agriculture applications have been proven to produce substantial income on surprisingly small acreage. There is unlimited opportunity in mini-agriculture whether rural or urban. Mini-agriculture can provide a comfortable income, a quality lifestyle, a great service to the community and it's a great way to raise kids. One woman took a one week course, went to Alaska, prepared the land and sold $20,000 worth of vegetables and then had six months of vacation. A couple in Midland, Texas, grossed $14,000 from one and a half acres. More Revolutionary Agriculture in Action Ken has taught minifarming and miniranching to groups around the globe. Throughout Africa, South America and in the United States he continues to teach techniques of organic biointensive raised bed agriculture and market gardening. "On foreign trips, I take with me a set of hand tools which a blacksmith can copy. Most of the these tools, the students have never seen."

Organic Gardens Get rid of your weeds and kitchen waste and have a beautiful organic garden.... Be Organic Recycle your plant-based, kitchen and garden waste by making it into compost. Dig it in to have a healthy, fertile garden and your fruit and vegetables can be organic. Don't assume the waste is harmless and bin it. Putting it in landfill costs money and it will produce methane (a global warming gas), also it may pollute the groundwater. This waste comprises about 20-30% of your total and the impact is significant. Why not make or buy a compost container? They're cheap, and available in wood or recycled plastic (that might otherwise be in your local landfill site). If you're keen you could combine it with a wormery or use a shredder which increases the amount of compostable waste. Do not compost foods such as dairy produce, meat, bread etc as these attract flies and vermin. Tigridia in Surrey.
