AIDS Coordination and Information Services
The AIDS Coordination and Information Services (ACIS) program provides a central contact point for persons with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and their families to obtain information on a variety of health care and social services needs. The ACIS program coordinates HIV/AIDS-related activities within the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) and provides assistance to various OKDHS divisions. ACIS oversees statewide operation of the HIV/AIDS Case Management Program for OKDHS. Case management is provided through professional care coordinators located in Tulsa, Oklahoma City and Lawton who are trained to assist HIV-infected persons in accessing needed services. Care coordinators provide information and referral, client assessment, advocacy and intervention, access to contract services and follow-up services to ensure the client is receiving needed services. These staff are also involved in the development and coordination of community resources to fill gaps and eliminate duplication of services. There are no income or resource restrictions for case management services. HIV infection is the only eligibility criterion and referrals are accepted from any location in the state.

http://www.finaid.org/loans/guaranteeagencies.phtml
Guarantee Agencies Federal student loans are extremely low risk loans, as compared with other types of unsecured loans, in part because the Federal government guarantees them against default. This section of FinAid provides information about student loan guarantee agencies, also referred to as student loan guarantors and student loan guaranty agencies. Guarantee agencies insure student loans against default. The 1% guarantee fee that is collected from each disbursement is paid to the designated guarantee agency to cover the costs of insuring the loan. (Some guarantee agencies have built up enough of a reserve that they are able to waive or reduce the guarantee fee.) If the borrower defaults, dies or becomes totally and permanently disabled, the guarantee agency reimburses the lender for the balance remaining on the loan. "At some point, if we are to retain the lead in the global economic race, we will have to rely on our homegrown and homebound human capital for our competitive edge. Eventually, we will have to close the education gap between our competition and ourselves. Eventually, holding our lead in the global economic race depends on our ability to move up in the global education race." 2005: Year of Languages Click here to learn more about issues in language instruction.

State Improvement Grant Applications Funded in 2000 Oklahoma Abstract Basic Information Improvement Strategies Return to Main Page Oklahoma Abstract or Conceptual Framework for State Systemic Change The purpose of the Oklahoma State Improvement Grant (SIG) is to promote a systems change effort to ensure that all personnel who work with children with disabilities are prepared and supported in providing a high quality education. The grant is designed to meet the critical needs in Oklahoma for preparing inclusive personnel for educational settings while reducing personnel shortages and providing the ongoing training and retraining of all service providers working with children and youth with disabilities. The plan for Oklahoma's state improvement grant includes two major goals: Goal 1: Prepare children and youth with disabilities to meet challenging state standards and make successful transitions to adult life through the establishment of a sustainable model of personnel preparation and professional development. Within this goal multiple partnerships will be established between the SEA, families, IHEs, LEAs and communities to more effectively prepare and support inclusive personnel at both the IHE and LEA levels. This will take place through the redesign of the content and delivery of preservice preparation programs and the creation of regional professional development schools within LEAs.
