Department of Development's Goals Department of Development: High Performance Economy ODOD continues to support the advancement of this tremendous economy with financial, informational, and technical assistance targeting a broad base of customers. Build Capital Investments Through its Economic Development Division, ODOD offers numerous incentives to encourage companies to make capital investments, including; low-interest financing for fixed asset investments, tax credits for creating new jobs or purchasing new or retooled manufacturing machinery or equipment, and grants for making infrastructure improvements. Companies can also receive real and/ or personal property tax exemptions with local approvals on new capital investments in designated areas. Develop New Technologies and Products
  • The Innovation Ohio Loan program helps companies finance the development of next generation products, while various other programs associated with the Third Frontier Project help promote the research, development and commercialization of new products.
Strengthen Workforce Skills
  • The Ohio Investment in Training Program provides funding to help companies train new or existing employees, while the Training Tax Credit is available to companies that retrain workers whose jobs are at risk due to new technologies. In addition, the Third Frontier Internship Program provides funding for high-tech internships.
