School of Radiography The Field of Radiologic Technology
A radiologic technologist, or radiographer, is a health care professional who plays an important role in patient care by assisting with the diagnosis and treatment of illness and disease.
Radiologic technology combines advanced medical technology with human compassion. Through the use of x-rays, radiologic technologists perform sophisticated diagnostic imaging tests that uncover a wide range of medical conditions. The results of these tests are then used by physicians to determine the patient's condition and the best course of treatment.
    Employment Opportunity and Outlook
Qualified experienced radiographers are currently in very high demand. In 2002, the American Hospital Association identified the field of radiologic technology as having the highest vacancy rate of any health care profession, surpassing the demand for both nurses and pharmacists.
Job opportunities exist in hospitals, physicians' offices, clinics, imaging centers, and with mobile imaging companies. Based on a survey conducted by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists, the average national salary of a radiologic technologist in 2001 was $36,900.

    Improving Education with Business Intelligence
    Download Story

Achieving academic excellence is not a benefit generally associated with the MicroStrategy Business Intelligence Platform™, but the State of Ohio uses it to do just that.
Providing easy access to primary and secondary public school performance data, the Ohio Department of Education is giving parents, teachers, administrators, legislators and journalists one click access to a profile of the state’s education system. The resulting insights can help parents become more involved in the education of their children and drive positive changes for future generations who will be educated in Ohio’s public school system.
One way to improve education is to accurately diagnose problems with the current system. Knowing what problems exist helps officials target appropriate resources to fix them, and knowing what works provides a model to emulate. That is how the Ohio Department of Education sets its agenda today, and it relies in part on MicroStrategy software to give parents, teachers, administrators and legislators an accurate profile of the state’s public education program.
