Linguistic Geography of Pennsylvania
The above map is historically skewed, in that boundaries follow the most modern studies when possible, but where current information is not available the boundaries must often reflect the 1939 LAMSAS data. At certain points the modern and older studies clearly conflict: Schuylkill County with its consistent monophthongization would have been better classified with the Lehigh Valley and Reading in 1939; today, its acceptance of the low back merger shows that it clearly belongs to the Anthracite region.

First and foremost would be a top-notch theater district Central City University and Central City Medical School both lie (not surprisingly) within the city limits, and of course there is the Flash Museum Dexter Myles . Around the same time the Flash appeared in Central City, so did the costumed criminals. Often these were men who had the intelligence to design and build elaborate equipment using principles unknown to the scientific community who were inexplicably more interested in using their inventions to rob banks than heading down to the patent office and waiting for the royalty checks to come in. In fact, the presence of the Flash not only directly subdued these

Commentary: Cleveland Is Ahead of the Curve
by Lev Gonick, CIO of Case Western Reserve University With OneCleveland, our region is staying ahead in the digital age. Lev Gonick led the OneCleveland effort to buy up "dark fiber," or unused fiber optic cables under Euclid Avenue, from telecom companies who had overbuilt in the dot-com '90s. The OneCleveland project is now linking schools, non-profits and museums with high bandwidth Internet connectivity. In this commentary, Gonick directs our attention to the progress of the groundbreaking OneCleveland project, interconnecting our city to resources and bridging the gap between ethnicity, gender and race, while putting Cleveland ahead of the curve nationally and internationally with ultra broadband connectivity This past week, two IT stories caught my attention. One was Jesse Drucker's Wall Street Journal story (11/23/04) about Bill 30 in Pennsylvania [here] that would prohibit municipalities such as Philadelphia from delivering wireless broadband service. The other story from Dan Fost of the

Students will understand the following: Some communities evolve slowly; some communities start out more or less fully developed. Planned communities have advocates and detractors. Materials For this lesson, you will need: Computers with access to the Internet Library for reference materials Index cards for note taking Procedures Although ancient Rome finally collapsed, it can be argued that over the years the city has offered a model of municipal planning. The Roman city, it has been claimed, was based on a carefully designed plan that reflected the needs and values of its citizens and other residents. The idea of such a planned community is still popular today. Tell students that they will have a chance to research several contemporary planned communities and then design their own modern planned community. Divide the class into groups that will each research one of the following planned communities:

Abstract: Liberal arts institutions across the country are engaged in collaborative partnerships with neighboring communities to address local issues and concerns. On many campuses, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technologies shape the analysis of these local conditions. Community GIS embodies partnerships between educators, students, and community members, applying GIS to projects of value to the community. We explore service-learning as both a community-based research tool and an innovative pedagogy, and key principles and effective practices of successful community partnerships. Examples of collaborations between colleges and communities using GIS are detailed, as are key aspects of successful collaborations.

Man what the fuck is up with people? Everywhere I turn people are talking about moving to Canada , despite the fact that they couldn't even make it to Ohio for a few days of election work. Which one is more work? Shit was sooooooooo freaking close. A few thousand more boots on the ground would have flipped the election, no lie. I've got zero patience right now with my fellow New Yorkers talking about how depressed they are and looking for foriegn passports while blaming middle America instead of themselves. People don't magically vote how you want them too, but if you actually talk to them they just might. And god knows how many Bush voters I met in Ohio that where one conversation short of a Kerry voter. Everyone out there knew how bad Bush was fucking things up, they just didn't know how Kerry would be better. The misinformation and lies were so thick in the air it was sickening, but perhaps not as sickening as the various antidotes walking the blue states who never bothered to go where it counted and are now ready to flee. update: Let me add that I'm in no way exempt from the above criticism, I was there in the home stretch, but I could have easily been there months before. Bottom line is we got out played and could have easily won this election if we where on point.

Tylee and others then came to find and measure plots suitable for sale to early settlers.

A city of northeast Ohio on Lake Erie. A port of entry and industrial center, the city was laid out in 1796 by Moses Cleveland (1754–1806). Population: 461,000. var tcdacmd="cc=edu;dt"; Encyclopedia Cleveland. City (1990 pop. 505,616), seat of Cuyahoga co., NE Ohio, on Lake Erie at the mouth of the Cuyahoga River; laid out (1796) by Moses Cleaveland , chartered as a city 1836. Ohio's second largest city and the center of the state's largest metropolitan area, it is an ore port and a Great Lakes shipping point. In spite of a dramatic decline in manufacturing, Cleveland remains to some extent dependent on heavy industry, including steel milling and the manufacture of engines, guided missiles, and space vehicles. There are numerous research firms; the National Aeronautics and Space Administration has a large center here, and the laboratory headquarters of the General Electric Company is in nearby Nela Park. Cleveland also houses some of the nation's largest law firms. The health care industry is the fastest growing segment of Cleveland's economy, largely because of the presence of the Cleveland Clinic, a world-famous research and treatment facility and the city's largest employer. Cleveland is the seat of Case Western Reserve Univ., Cleveland State Univ., John Carroll Univ., Notre Dame College, the Cleveland Institute of Art, the Cleveland Institute of Music, and several other colleges and seminaries. Visitors are drawn to the Mall (civic center); the Terminal Tower; the Rock-and-Roll Hall of Fame; the Western Reserve Historical Society Museum; the museum of natural history, with a planetarium; Wade Park, with the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Fine Arts Garden; Rockefeller Park, enclosing the Shakespeare and Cultural Gardens; Severance Hall, where concerts of the internationally famous
