Events included a virtual reunion of families separated by the Korean War, a visit by a 30-member North Korean delegation, which visited the national cemetery and National Assembly. The president reviewed difficult periods in Korean history since the late 19th century, noting the damaging effects of certain groups pursuing their interests at the expense of the nation. He also pointed out how Korea has changed, emphasizing: "No dogmatic thinking will be able to prevent social changes any more. The investigative reporter Robert Parry has long been following Moon's activities and in October of 2000 he published this report based on the findings of a Defense Intelligence Agency investigation. He reports: Yet, in the 1990s when North Korea was scrambling for the resources to develop missiles and other advanced weaponry, Moon was among a small group of outside businessmen quietly investing in North Korea.
