The ordinance carries a penalty of "not less than $500 per offense and/or 30 days in jail." The lawsuit was filed in state superior court in Buncombe County, North Carolina, on behalf of a registered sex offender who resides in the Town of Woodfin. The identity of the Plaintiff is being withheld from public documents in order to preserve Plaintiff's privacy.
