Harold L. Timboe, M.D., M.P.H. Dr. Harold Timboe is a senior official at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He is Assistant Vice President for Research Administration and Initiatives, as well as Founding Director of the Center for Public Health Preparedness and Biomedical Research, and a Clinical Professor in the School of Medicine, Department of Family and Community Medicine. In addition to the three positions he holds at the health science university, in March 2003 Texas Governor Rick Perry appointed Major General Timboe as Commander of the Texas Medical Rangers, a new Medical Reserve Corps volunteer unit of the Texas State Guard whose purpose is to provide medical expertise and health support in public health emergencies and disasters. The Texas Medical Rangers are expected to grow to over 1000 physicians, nurses and others with health related skills, and will be organized around the staff and faculty of the 10 health science campuses in Texas. A native of Long Beach, California, General Timboe attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1968. He was awarded a Medical Degree in 1978 from the University of Texas School of Medicine in San Antonio, followed by a residency in family practice at Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii. In 1980 he received a Masters of Public Health from the University of Hawaii with an emphasis on health services administration and planning. He is a graduate of the Army's Command and General Staff College as well as the Army War College.

Dec. 17, 2002 14 NC State University Students to Receive Military Commissions FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Fourteen North Carolina State University students are set to receive commissions in the U.S. armed forces at a joint Air Force-Army-Navy-Marine Corps ceremony at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, in the Grand Ballroom of the Talley Student Center. Eight students will receive U.S. Navy commissions, four students will receive U.S. Air Force commissions, one student will receive a U.S. Army commission and one student will receive a U.S. Marine Corps commission. The keynote address will be delivered by Major General William E. Ingram, Jr. of the North Carolina National Guard. Major General Ingram was appointed the Adjutant General, North Carolina National Guard, in July 2001. He guides the formulation, development and implementation of all programs and policies affecting the North Carolina Army and Air National Guard.
