The District has approved a plan to have schools operate on a Delayed Opening schedule eight Thursdays during 2005-06 school year. Schools will open late, allowing teachers to use the time for collaborative planning or professional development. Elementary schools will begin at 9:20 a.m.; middle schools will start at 9:50 a.m.; and high schools will begin at 10:15 a.m. The dates for delayed opening are: September 22, October 20, November 17, January 19, February 16, March 16, April 20 and May 18. Parents should plan to make arrangements for their children on these delayed opening dates. In addition, school is scheduled to dismiss early on the last day of school, June 9, 2006.
