Trupe received his B.S. in Geology from George Mason University , and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Geology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Teaching Before coming to Georgia Southern, I taught introductory geology courses at Appalachian State University , and taught a variety of courses as a graduate student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. At Georgia Southern, my teaching responsibilities include Introductory Geology (Physical, Environmental), Structural Geology, Field Methods, and Tectonics. Research My research interests are structural geology and tectonics, with particular emphasis on the tectonothermal evolution of the southern Appalachians. Topics of special interest include the petrology of fault-related rocks, crystallographic fabric analysis of mylonitic rocks, and metamorphic pressure-temperature paths. I am involved in several ongoing field-based research projects. One project concerns structural relationships and petrology of metamorphic rocks of the Blue Ridge in western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee. Another project in progress involves detailed geologic mapping and petrology of rocks in the vicinity of the Linville Falls shear zone in northwestern North Carolina.
