The Tar Heel Toast Here's to the land of the long leaf pine,
The summer land where the sun doth shine,
Where the weak grow strong, and the strong grow great,
Here's to "Down Home," the Old North State! Here's to the land of the cotton bloom white,
Where the scuppernong perfumes the breeze at night,
Where the soft southern moss, and jessamine mate,
"Neath the murmuring pines of the Old North State! Here's to the land where the galax grows, Where the rhododendron's rosette glows, Where soars Mount Mitchell's summit great, In the "Land of the Ske," in the Old North State! Here's to the land where maidens are fair, Where friends are true, and cold hearts rare, The near land, the dear land, whatever fate, The blest land, the best land, the Old North State! The above was officially adopted as the State Toast of NC by: the General Assembly of 1957 (Session Laws, 1957,c.777)

    Genealogy for Children
    Teaching kids to be detectives
Almost all kids like to play detective - to look for
clues and sift through information for answers.
This fascination with detective work provides the
perfect vehicle to introduce the children in your
life to something unique and personal - their
ancestry. The genealogical treasure hunt is a
search for something more precious than gold
or jewels - information that reveals something
about your family. It can be a in the form of a document such as a will, a picture of a long ago ancestor, or a doll that a little girl played with a century ago. Children can have so much fun playing detective, that they won't even realize that they are learning along the way. Ask your children or grandchildren to help you unravel the mystery of your family history, and you will be starting them on the journey of a lifetime. Stocking Stuffer Ideas Chosen "Best CD of 2001" by Hudson Valley Magazine, reaction to Revolution on the River has been nothing short of phenomenal. Storyteller Jonathan Kruk (on left) and folk balladeer Rich Bala (on right) have produced a carefully researched collection of authentic songs and stories from the time of the American Revolution.

    60. Family Tree Maker's Genealogy Site: User Home Pages: Christmas ~ Haywood ~ Hayle
Researching the Christmas and Weatherford families of north carolina and Virginia, and the Cash and Walker families of Kentucky. Compiled by Thomas G Weatherford of Charlottesville, VA USA.
    http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/w/e/a/Thomas-G-Weatherford/
// Included to access cookie for webpub email feature window.name = 'GooGooBar'; This update of previous pages now includes the Walker and Cash families of Kentucky, as well as the Weatherford and Christmas families of North Carolina and Virginia. The Christmas and Weatherford side of the family includes extensive listing of the Haywood, Hayley, and Ransom families of North Carolina.
This page is drawn from an unabridged file that has been created regarding the Christmas and Weatherford families of North Carolina and Virginia, and the Walker and Cash families of Kentucky.
The unabridged file is the result of several years of research. It has required numerous visits to county seats in Kentucky, North Carolina, and Virginia, as well as to libraries, archives, cemeteries, U.S. Census records, and interviews with numerous elder family members. It contains over 1,300 individuals who are related.
As it is to be understood that this is a work work in progress, it is in no wise to be considered complete. The natural entries and exits of human players on the stage of life will continue to assure that. Additional information can always be contributed to the files of those whose names and stations appear here.
This record is "privatized", meaning that personal information pertaining to living persons has been rendered unavailable for personal privacy and security reasons. Those individuals are shown in their proper places in the Family, but birth dates, places, addresses, and other similar information has been blocked. If you have access to the unabridged file, then it provides as much information as is available in any records that this researcher has.
