Introduction
Nigeria is situated at the extreme inner corner of the Gulf of Guinea on the west coast of Africa. It borders with Chad to the northeast, Cameroon to the east, Benin to the west, Niger to the northwest and by the Atlantic Ocean (Gulf of Guinea) to the south.
Along the entire coastline of Nigeria lies a belt of mangrove swamp forest from 10 to 60 miles in width, which is intersected by branches of the Niger Delta and innumerable other smaller rivers and creeks. Beyond the swamp forest is a zone, from 50 to 100 miles wide, of undulating tropical rain forest. The country then rises to a plateau at a general elevation of 2,000 ft but reaching 6,000 ft to the east, and the vegetation changes from woodland to savannah. In the extreme north, the country approaches the southern part of the Sahara.

http://www.africatravelling.net/nigeria/lagos/lagos_culture.htm
Lagos Culture L agos (Nigeria) , city in southwestern Nigeria, in Lagos State, located on the Bight of Benin (an arm of the Atlantic Ocean). Lagos is Nigeria's largest city, chief port, and principal economic and cultural center. It served as Nigeria's capital until 1991, when the seat of federal government was moved to Abuja, in central Nigeria. Lagos has a very diverse and fast-growing population, resulting from heavy and ongoing migration to the city from all parts of Nigeria as well as neighbouring countries. In 1992 Lagos had an estimated population of about 1,347,000. The population of its metropolitan area was about 10.9 million in 1996. The United Nations predicts that the city's metropolitan area, which had only about 290,000 inhabitants in 1950, will exceed 20 million by 2010, making Lagos one of the world's five largest cities. The Yoruba, an African people inhabiting southwest Nigeria, constitute the city's principal ethnic group. English is the most commonly used language, but Yoruba and other Nigerian languages are also spoken. Lagos is an important center of Nigerian intellectual and cultural life. The University of Lagos (1962), Yaba College of Technology (1948), Lagos State University (1983), and Lagos State Polytechnic (1977) are located in the city, as are several major research institutes. Lagos is also the site of the National Library of Nigeria (1964) and the National Museum (1957), which has collections in archaeology, ethnography, and traditional art. The National Theater (1976) stages plays, dance performances, and music concerts, and also houses collections of contemporary Nigerian art.

Nigeria and the Igbo Culture
Insert your location here ] kwenu!]. I offer you a kola nut. (This is my dumb attempt at making this page more ethnic...somebody's request). This page is dedicated to Nigeria and the Igbo culture. My name is Chinelo, and I started learning the Igbo language in the winter of 1996/1997 when I was a senior in high school. I liked it so much that I decided to create a page on the language and my heritage. The rest is history (or to be PC, herstory). For those who have been here before...same mission statement. But soon the page will be completely updated (as I always say...but I really do have a creative idea for this...you'll just have to wait for that). I had been really busy with work and life and haven't had time to add new information and honor people's requests for specific topics. But it should coming, um, soon probably...yeah. In the mean time, I added an update page to keep you current on what's going on with the page. Regarding specific information requests...I will try to find out information on inquiries made in guest book entrees, so please be patient. I do try to find out information on every request (well, if it interests me, but I'm a student so you'd have to try really hard to find something that I wasn't interested in), so if you do have one, please sign the guest book.
