Location: Air Force 9 Wing Home Despite a history of flying different Aircraft and series of frequent moves to bases throughout the Atlantic, search and rescue has been the role of 103 Squadron since it began in 1947. Today, 103 Search and Rescue (SAR) Squadron is charged with providing a 24 hour a day, 365 days a year search and rescue capability to the Halifax Rescue Coordination Centre (RCC) . The Squadron is responsible for a massive area, covering the lower Arctic, the Maritimes, Newfoundland and Labrador and all offshore waters in the region. Considering that the number of SAR cases in the Newfoundland Region, which are actual distress cases, is twice the national average, 103 Squadron is kept very busy. Given 103's proximity to major fishing grounds and shipping routes, it isn't surprising that the majority of its missions are marine-based . SAR crews routinely find vessels in distress, overdue boats and sick or injured seamen. Crews can easily find themselves nearly 200 miles offshore and with the introduction of Hibernia , a refuelling site at an oil production platform, the potential to go even further out to sea has proven very much a reality.

91. Across Canada By Bicycle - Through The North - British Columbia, Yukon, Northwes
On a bicycle across canada from B.C., Yukon and NWT to Quebec, labrador and newfoundland. As part of a bigger journey all around North America.
http://www.bicycletraveller.de/97rd/index_e.htm
Across Canada on a Bicycle
- As far as possible through the North - Canada is a big country. A huge country. But if it comes to cycling it becomes reduced to two / three regions.

First there's the Rocky Mountains. Lets forget them. And then there is "Across Canada". A further question most of the time reveals it's either "along the border USA/Canada" or "the Trans-Canada Highway". And? That's it? Canada reduced to the Rockies in the west and a corridor in the south
Canada offers that much more to be seen, to be experienced. To get you a little superficial impression of it I put up the three parts of
Western Canada

British Columbia, Yukon
Central Canada

Northwest Territories, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario
Eastern Canada

Quebec, Labrador, Newfoundland
Superficial by intention; 'Cause I'd like to see these pages just as a little push for those travellers maybe sittin' somewhere and just not knowing where to go next. My biggest suggestion: Leave the guide in your panniers and let the country itself be your guide!
