Web Guidelines
Development and adoption by government agencies of the Web Guidelines to ensure government websites are well managed and accessible to the people using them.
Current version of the Web Guidelines
Version 2.1 is the current version of the Web Guidelines, last revised on February 13, 2004. Web Guidelines Cabinet paper and Minute of decision can be viewed here.
Overview
The Web Guidelines set a standard for public sector web sites in New Zealand. The major focus is accessibility - enhancing online access. People use accessible web sites. Accessible web sites are equally usable for all users, irrespective of physical or technological impediments. The Web Guidelines provide practical requirements to:
  • Provide economical and equitable access to information Provide trustworthy information and services Ensure information reflects the core values of the Public Service.
The Web Guidelines cover measures that are either:
  • Required – mandatory Recommended - should Optional.
