This barcoding is used by Mandarin , a library software program, to sign-out books and keep track of them. There are a variety of CD-ROM programs such as Information Finder World Almanac World Atlas Grolier Encyclopedia Monarch Notes , and American Indian Encyclopedia . Media available is not only limited to computer resources. College videos are available for juniors and seniors to borrow to help them in selecting institutions of higher learning. Other media resources include newspaper subscriptions to The Utica Observer Dispatch The Rome Daily Sentinel , and U.S.A. Today . Naturally, magazines are a source of pleasure reading and research material. The Media Center has magazine subscriptions to over 50 magazines such as Teen People U.S. News and World Report Time Popular Science , and Health Magazine Article Summaries , a CD-ROM catalog of magazine resources can be accessed through the computer network. This enables students to research topics using hundreds of sources. Many classes come in to do research in the library also. A variety of topics are covered including Shakespeare, inventions and technology, recent social issues, drugs and alcohol, endangered species, diseases, as well as biographies of presidents and famous Afro-Americans. | |
