My ancestors came to North Carolina from the colonies of Maryland, Delaware, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and their descendants spread out across the United States. I have been collection information for many years, and through this site, I hope I can help others in their quest for their ancestral roots. My files are not complete, but are ever changing as new information is received, from distant relatives who kindly share their own research.
My direct ancestral lines include: BOWMAN, BOVENDER, BRYANT, CAIN, CASSTEVENS, CRESON/CRESSON, DAVIS, HARDING, HUTCHENS/HUTCHINS, GILES, KELLY, LA FORCE/LE FORCE, LINEBERRY, PATTERSON, SPEER, STEELMAN, STILLE. Not all of these are included on this web page, but will be in the future.

The preservation of property and artifacts concerning Grindstone Island in upstate new york including researching its history, ecology and genealogy.
http://www.grindstoneisland.org
One of the larger of the Thousand Islands, Grindstone has a history and heritage
born in two countries. Grindstone was once considered a Canadian Island and not until 1823 was the border settled. However this did not really make much difference to the Grindstone Islanders. Some were Americans, some were Canadians and some were both. This unique political history and the isolation of island life caused the development of
a special place.

New York City Death Index
1891 to 1894 Manhattan Only
1895 to 1897 Manhattan and Brooklyn Only
1898 to 1936 All Boroughs
If you have ever tried to use the New York City death index for the early years, you will appreciate this latest database. If you look at the microfilm for these early years you know that you have to look at every month, every year and every borough. Now the volunteers of the Genealogy Federation of Long Island have put these records in a very searchable database that will enable you to search with just a push of the button. Phase 1 of this effort covered the period 1891 – 1907. The second phase added the years 1908 through 1936 and will eventually include the indexes up to 1948. We would like to thank Robert Boeckle of the German Genealogy Group and the phase 1 volunteers. Bob scanned and processed all of the index pages contained in the original index books. The Phase 1 volunteers then proof read and edited the results. For phase 2, Bob teamed up with Frank Sclafani of the Italian Genealogy Group. Once again, Bob scanned the original indexes while Frank proof read and edited the results.

About The Italian Genealogical Group
The Italian Genealogical Group is an organization dedicated to furthering Italian family history and genealogy. Although most members are from the New York City metropolitan area, our membership is worldwide. We meet on the second Saturday of each month from September to June. Visitors are welcome. At each meeting, we invite someone who is knowledgeable about Italian culture, history or genealogy to speak. Ten times a year, members receive a newsletter that contains articles to help them with their research. Members who are unable to attend meetings will find a detailed summary of the speaker’s address in the following month’s newsletter. Our website includes a database of all the surnames and areas of Italy that our members (past and present) are researching. This database, accessible only by a password, is updated frequently. New members receive a very useful packet of information pertaining to Italian and general genealogy. We maintain our own lending library and offer for sale at our meetings important genealogy books at discounted prices. Each spring, the Italian Genealogical Group hosts an all-day seminar at a Long Island university. We invite nationally and internationally known speakers to address the audience on a variety of genealogical and cultural topics. Click on “Seminar” to find out about this year’s exciting event.

Doxtator and Webster
Introduction To My Oneida Family History:

I am researching my Native Ancestors who lived in Wisconsin, and New York State. I have some names, but very few dates to go with them. The picture above is of my father's brother, JOHN WEBSTER (Celinda's son) and I believe the other man to be daddy's brother-in-law, FRANK DOXTATOR. I think he is the Frank who married CORA WEBSTER, my dad's sister. My parents were raised up on the Oneida Reservation, but moved to California when my father joined the army in 1942. They never returned, except on very rare occasions. I went with them one time when I was about in the second grade. That has been a few years ago. This has not only been an enjoyable experience, but also a very educational one for me. The names I know of right now are: NOAH, son of ABRAM WEBSTER and ELIZABETH BAIRD.
