http://www.nmbattleofthebooks.org/
Welcome to the New Mexico Battle of the Books Home Page
The New Mexico Battle of the Books encourages the youth of New Mexico to read books, have fun, and compete by demonstrating their knowledge of books. Battle of the Books is a book-related competition for students in grades 4-9. Students are quizzed about books that they have read from the designated Battle of the Books reading list . Teams are sponsored by schools or public libraries, and will compete in either the Elementary or Middle School Divisions. Students in grades 4-5 compete in the Elementary Division, while students in grades 7-9 compete in the Middle School Division. Schools and libraries may enter either division, but not both unless the school or library serves a student population in grades 4 through 8 or 9. (See rules page for additional requirements.) While teams enter the Statewide Battle as a group, participants then compete as individuals on teams that consist of students from all over the state. Dates and Location of 2006 Battle Announced!

The State Library leads in new mexico state development, helping to build needed community training, learning and workrelated programs.
    http://www.nmoca.org/library.html
Since its beginnings more than 60 years ago, the State Library has been a leader in the development of New Mexico's public libraries, helping them to build the programs needed by their communities. The Library's heritage is evident today in the Rural Services Program. Four bookmobiles serve the entire state, stopping in some 260 communities, logging more than 80,000 miles a year. Books by Mail rounds out the service by sending books through regular mail to subscribers remote from the scheduled bookmobile stops. The State Library also serves the State Government with access to work-related information and reference materials. And through its Talking Book program, the Library reaches 4,500 visually impaired and physically challenged people each year.
