The University of New Mexico Libraries has an opening for a Curator for Native American Studies in the Indigenous Nations Library Program. This is a full-time, 12 month faculty position with a desired start date of August 15, 2005. The faculty rank and tenure status for this position are negotiable appropriate to qualifications and experience. The salary is negotiable from a minimum of $40,000.
Education and Experience:
Minimum:
* Masters degree from an ALA-accredited Library/Information Science program.
* Experience with programs in Indigenous studies and culture.
* Experience in collection development, acquisitions, and management.
* Record of interaction with and knowledge of New Mexico's Native American tribes and tribal life.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Second advanced degree in Latin American studies or a closely related field. Experience in grant writing Experience in donor relations Demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects and/or activities Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the languages required under the minimum qualifications listed above.
