Things to consider before you enroll in a private vocational school:
Is the school promising you a job when you graduate?
It is against the law for private vocational schools to use any business name, logo or insignia that is designed to be deceptive and mislead potential students about affiliations the school might have. Did you answer an employment agency ad for a job and found you were really calling a school?
Is a course necessary to get a job?
Check the newspaper to see who is offering the jobs you want. Call the human resources departments of some of the companies and ask if you really need a course. How are you going to pay for the course?
Depending on which type of loan you get, you may have to start repaying the loan as soon as you finish school.
It can take many years to pay back the loan, depending on the cost of the course and how high the interest rate is.
Unlike many other types of loans or debts, school loans are very difficult to discharge in bankruptcy.

I. INTRODUCTION
This paper identifies a number of school related problems confronting New Jersey youth returning to local communities and schools from juvenile detention facilities and Juvenile Justice Commission (JJC) programs and makes recommendations for improving the educational achievement of these youth. As many of the issues that confront youth returning from JJC residential commitments are the same or similar to those that impact youth returning to local schools from juvenile detention facilities and even placements in JJC day programs, this paper addresses broadly issues facing youth returning from JJC and juvenile detention facility programs to schools and communities. However, it also recognizes the special challenges facing older youth re-entering communities from JJC commitments and the need to develop intensive educational programs that can address their particular needs.

School Construction and Finance in New Jersey
New Jersey’s approach to provide equal educational opportunities for all children also goes well beyond court ordered measures to end disparities in school financing among rich and poor towns in Vermont and New York. In addition to the construction program, the New Jersey Supreme Court mandated ordered the implementation of "whole school reform" in all elementary schools in the Abbott districts. Whole school reform involves a systematic restructuring of an entire school engaging the participation of the schools faculty, administration, students, parents and other community stakeholders–which "must be implemented as interrelated parts of a comprehensive program." The wide consensus about the effectiveness of whole school reform is closely aligned with the consensus forming around the concept of community-based schools. There are two ways a school can serve as a center of community: "either by serving a more integral role within the context of the whole community, or by extending the learning environment to take advantage of the full range of the community's resources. Indeed, the most successful schools of the future will be integrated learning communities, which accommodate the needs of all of the community's stakeholders." Either way, the concept of schools that serve as centers of communities represents a key strategy for achieving the goals of the SDRP, essentially: to support the revitalization of existing cities and towns; and to encourage new suburban growth, where necessary, in compact patterns, in order to curb sprawl and conserve scarce open space.

Search by: One of the major goals of the Department of Education is to increase accountability for educational progress, as well as to communicate useful information to the public. The New Jersey School Report Card has provided the public with information about every school in New Jersey since 1995 when the Legislature mandated the annual accountability report. The 2004 edition of the New Jersey School Report Card offers the same level of information as last year, but it features several new navigation tools that increase ease of access to the individual school reports. We encourage you to examine your school’s report card to decide for yourself whether your school is making satisfactory progress in helping your child meet New Jersey’s Core Curriculum Content Standards. If you would like to give the department feedback on the new features, please contact us through http://www.state.nj.us/njded/data/collections/rc/
