This website has been created as a gathering spot for researchers and individuals who are endeavoring to research the history and genealogy of the town of Westfield, Union County, New Jersey. In an effort to perpetuate the memory of the early men and women who settled the town, the emphasis is on genealogy, as people make the place. The "content" consists of a brief timeline of the history of the town, genealogies of many of the original families, links to sites that may help you in further research , transcriptions of various local civil and church records, and a guestbook for visitors to sign and view. We are constantly adding new information, and would like this site to be a model for others to follow for their local communities. Suggestions are always welcome, as well as any contributions of material that may aid fellow researchers in their work. We hope you enjoy your experience while visiting us, and hope you'll spread the word about this online source of Westfield's past! Wanted

Epitaphs on cemetery gravestones can be useful in providing birth and death information for an ancestor and many times these epitaphs have been transcribed and indexed. Occasionally family relationships are also apparent (or can be explored further) from information on gravestones and their location next to other stones. Research Your Family's History Researching your family's history has never been easier, thanks to the World Wide Web. Many comprehensive sites offer last name searches across many databases-vital statistics, cemetery records, ship's passenger lists and more. Specialized sites offer the ability to browse photographs or do research within specific ethnic communities. However, the best innovation that the Web has introduced is the ability to collaborate with others. Many sites are interactive, with people responding to questions and posting new information daily. Use this guide to genealogy sources to explore what the Web has to offer to explore and document your family's history. General Genealogy Information Top Ancestry.com
