New Board Member Sworn in to Serve
"Today marks an extraordinary milestone in the life of New Jersey's cultural community and we are extremely proud to be a part of it," stated Sharon A. Harrington, chairman of the NJSCA. "The Council is pleased to have designed and administered this vital new program in partnership with the New Jersey Historical Commission to assist the workings of the New Jersey Cultural Trust. These first awards can help build stronger organizations that can better serve communities and residents across the state." Final funding decisions will be made by The New Jersey Cultural Trust, which is expected to take action in April. The New Jersey State Council on the Arts and the New Jersey Historical Commission worked collaboratively to design a single Stabilization Grant program that is funded through interest earnings of the New Jersey Cultural Trust. A total of 83 arts and 38 history and humanities stabilization applications were received by the two agencies for distribution of $450,000 of the $600,000 made available for Cultural Trust Grants. The NJ Historic Trust will make recommendations on the remaining $150,000 as capital stabilization preservation project grants for history and humanities organizations.

Overview
The Institute for Student Services Professionals, a collaborative endeavor of six higher education institutions, presents this workshop in alliance with the NACUBO. The program offers sessions for institutions at various stages of integrating student services: exploring the possibilities, in the midst of change in progress, or, having completed integration, seeking continuous improvement. Unique mini-lab sessions take advantage of the University of Pennsylvania campus in Philadelphia to provide real-world examples of effective delivery of student services through integration. Planned by student services professionals from Belmont University, Pepperdine University, Temple University, the University of Minnesota, the University of Pennsylvania, and the University of Washington, the workshop addresses topics such as physical, organizational, and virtual integrations so participants can understand which model will work best for them. Other sessions focus on how to work most effectively, including staff/leadership development, cost containment, customer service, and measuring effectiveness. Faculty will work interactively with participants and provide tools to help facilitate, lead, and participate in change while discussing the benefits, opportunities, and challenges of creating dynamic integrated student services.

About Region 2
Greetings From Mary Ann Higgins
Welcome to the Region II Office of the Administration for Children and Families. As the Regional Administrator, I am pleased that we are able to use the latest technology to share information about our programs and activities with you.
The Administration for Children and Families, that's ACF for short, is part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. As our name implies, ACF supports a variety of programs, projects and initiatives designed to improve the lives of children, youth and families.
If you have ever heard about Head Start, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, the Child Care Development Fund, the Child Support Enforcement or Adoption Assistance programs, you may already be familiar with our agency. Some of our programs focus on working with people with developmental disabilities, refugees, migrants and runaway and homeless youth. To accomplish our mission, we work in collaboration with state and local governments, non-profit community based organizations and private industry. The goals that are important to our agency - families and individuals becoming self-sufficient, parents taking responsibility for the physical, emotional and financial support of their children, and communities that are safe, healthy and developmentally supportive places for children, youth and families - touch the lives of all who live in the areas that comprise Region II, New Jersey, New York, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
