NJEA REVIEW
Where does the time go?
Simple time management techniques for the classroom teacher
By Patricia Bruder, EIRC
"Geography is the study of Earth as the home of people."
Yi-Fu Tuan, 1991
Scholastic points out students do not need as much down time as previously assumed. They suggest you reduce the number of breaks, control scheduling wherever you can (pull-out programs, lunch breaks, extracurricular planning time, outside interruptions, unexpected visitors), by scheduling solid instructional blocks, and creating smooth transitions between lessons. Delegating routine tasks to aides, volunteers, and students can be a valuable time-saver.
Your classroom
EverythingESL.net Tips for Organizing and Maintaining Your Classroom Library is a list of techniques for keeping track of the books on your library shelf. Checkout systems vary from old-fashioned book pocket cards to using craft sticks customized by students as place savers.
Online solutions
Online worksheets are sometimes powerful timesavers.
