science and technology education for all students in new jersey schools.Initiated by the new jersey Department of education (NJ DOE), based at Rutgers,
http://njssi.rutgers.edu/documents/aboutus.html
Who We Are
The Statewide Systemic Initiative (SSI) is an extremely competitive National Science Foundation (NSF) program launched in 1991. Over an initial three-year period, 26 states and Puerto Rico were awarded five-year grants. New Jersey was selected in 1993 to receive a $10 million grant over a five-year period, which was Phase I of NJ SSI. The intense competition for Phase II funding narrowed the total number of SSI programs down to only eight nationwide. In 1998 New Jersey successfully competed for another five-year, $6 million grant (Phase II).
The New Jersey Statewide Systemic Initiative (NJ SSI) is a unique partnership of schools, districts, colleges and universities, science centers and museums, business and industry, dedicated to strengthening mathematics, science and technology education for all students in New Jersey schools. Initiated by the New Jersey Department of Education (NJ DOE), based at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, and supported by the National Science Foundation, the State of New Jersey, and other sources, NJ SSI is committed to a vision of excellence in education.
What We Do
The vision is becoming a reality as a result of:
  • New Core Curriculum Content Standards and accompanying Frameworks encouraging districts to examine curriculum and instructional methods Teams of teachers participating in intensive standards-based professional development

For example, they will prescribe antibiotics to kill bacteria that have caused an infection. Allopathic physicians often work in public or private hospitals or clinics and many have private practices. Their work hours can be long and irregular. Although many allopathic physicians become internists, generalists, or family practitioners, most specialize in other medical fields.

Internist: a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of all forms of adult disease. His training, after four years of medical school, includes a three year intensive, in-hospital residency program. This prepares him to manage all phases of patient care, from house calls and office visits to complex hospital cases. The primary internist is the best trained specialist to oversee adult patient care in the hospital setting, and to coordinate the consulting sub-specialists. To that end, the Service of Internal Medicine provides inpatient internists for any patient who comes to the hospital without a primary physician, but encourages all adult patients to seek out a personal internist to help prevent illness before they are hospitalized.

Holocaust Education Holocaust Commission Holocaust Remembrance Day Kristallnacht Memorial Night L. 1994, c.13, s.1. 18A:35-27. Findings, declarations 1. The Legislature finds and declares that:
a. New Jersey has recently become the focal point of national attention for the most venomous and vile of ethnic hate speeches.
b. There is an inescapable link between violence and vandalism and ethnic and racial intolerance. The New Jersey Department of Education itself has formally recognized the existence of the magnitude of this problem in New Jersey schools by the formation of a Commissioner's Task Force on Violence and Vandalism. c. New Jersey is proud of its enormous cultural diversity. The teaching of tolerance must be made a priority if that cultural diversity is to remain one of the State's strengths.
d. National studies indicate that fewer than 25% of students have an understanding of organized attempts throughout history to eliminate various ethnic groups through a systematic program of mass killing or genocide.
e. The New Jersey Commission on Holocaust Education, created pursuant to P.L.1991, c.193 (C.18A:4A-1 et seq.), several years ago expanded its mission to study and recommend curricular material on a wide range of genocides. The Holocaust Commission is an ideal agency to recommend curricular materials to local districts.

About the Program
Situating students in a critical context is paramount if they are to grasp the complex nature of social, political and psychological issues in the twenty-first century. Without adequate grounding in the liberal arts, students cannot develop the abstract thinking skills to grapple with issues like the problematic nature of economic growth and development, cultural studies and the arts, the contemporary nature of the nation-state, the relevance of the human genome project for the development of drug therapies, the impact of laboratory information systems in chemistry, and the changing hegemony of psychological theories.
Both the College and the larger social context have been altered during the past two decades. The nature of technology, the organization of the economy (locally, nationally and globally) and academic discourse (to name just a few examples) have been transformed during this period. These changes are reflected in the general education curriculum.
