University of New Hampshire Library Special Collections T he primary mission of Special Collections is to acquire, preserve, and make accessible research materials, particularly those related to the Granite State. Our resources include nearly 100,000 published items , over 300 manuscript collections, maps , and a wide range of non-print materials, including photographs and other visual media and recordings . To facilitate research, materials online have been grouped by subject area, as indicated in the left panel. N otable holdings in Special Collections include the Douglas M. and Helena McElwain Milne Angling Collection , with its 3,500 volumes ranging from 17th century editions of Izaak Walton's The Compleat Angler to the latest books on fly tying and stream tactics; the Lewis Stark Early New Hampshire Imprint Collection , comprising more than 1250 titles; the Gareth and Janet Dunleavy Chaucer Collection , boasting over 50 classic editions of Chaucer, including early blackletter and Roman type 16th century editions and the William Morris Kelmscott Chaucer; the correspondence, music, and memorabilia of New Hampshire-born composer Amy Cheney Beach ; the New Hampshire Libraries of Traditional Music and Dance and Traditional Jazz ; the papers of German-expatriate photographer Lotte Jacobi ; the papers of poets Donald Hall, Galway Kinnell, and Charles Simic; the senatorial papers of Norris Cotton, John Durkin, Thomas McIntyre, and Warren Rudman, and a copy of | |
