Local History and Genealogy Resources in the New Hampshire Room
The New Hampshire Room is a reference collection of materials of interest to the local historian and genealogist, as well as the patron interested in all aspects of New Hampshire history. Included in the collection are city and town histories, biographies of famous N.H. people, books by N.H. authors, N.H. government, Manchester history and government and genealogies of major N.H. families. All materials must be used in the Room and a book safe photocopier is located in the room for patron use.
A limited amount of information can be obtained by telephone, Email , and in-person. In-person requests will be given greater priority. Staff is limited and patrons will be expected to do their own research. Assistance is available as time permits.
The staff will handle correspondence in the order it is received. A limited amount of research will be completed and a non-refundable search fee of $5.00 per request plus photocopying fees will be charged. All requests for photocopying must be made in writing. Telephone requests for photocopying will not be accepted. Requests for Federal Census searches and Manchester vital records searches cannot be completed by the staff.
Photocopies can be made from most volumes, unless prohibited by the condition of the volume. Rare books may not be photocopied. Self-service photocopies are $0.15 each page and microfilm/fiche copies are $0.25 per page.

Welcome to the official web site for the Town of New Boston, New Hampshire. A town of beautiful hills and valleys nestled in and around the branches of the Piscataquog River. Home of the Molly Stark Cannon , the Joe English Grange , the Hillsborough County 4-H Fair and many other points of interest.
The town began on January 14, 1736, when "a township of unappropriated lands of the Province" was granted to John Simpson and 52 others by "the Great and General Court of Assembly, for His Majesty's Province of Massachusetts Bay." Settlements were built in 1733 and the folks officially named their town New Boston on April 16, 1751.

The Town of Milford has a rich history. Separated from Amherst and established as an independent town in 1794, Milford was a prime stop on the Underground Railroad. Located in southern New Hampshire on the banks of the Souhegan River, the town is named after the River's shallow Mill Ford, so called after the many mills at this location in the eighteenth century. Milford is still a favorable spot for business. Made famous by the thriving granite industry and known as The Granite Town in the Granite State Milford is home to manufacturing, information and service oriented businesses. The town is also a hotspot for tourism and is especially known for its antique shops and country craft stores. The town is about 10 miles West of Nashua NH and is accessible from Nashua off of route 3 exits 7 or 8, following route 101 A West, or from the North from Manchester, following route 101 West.
