"The six bodies that grant accreditation to colleges and universities in the United States are near agreement on guidelines for evaluating distance education that differ from traditional accrediting standards by focusing on how much students learn. If enacted, the regional accrediting agencies would use the guidelines to set standards for granting accreditation to distance-education programs and institutions."
The Chronicle of Higher Education
Accrediting Groups Issue Recommendations for Distance-Education Programs
"Representatives of the six U.S. regional accrediting bodies have finalized a set of recommendations for building and evaluating online-education programs. But the recommendations won't become accreditation standards, says Charles M. Cook, the director of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges' Commission on Institutions of Higher Education. 'We've always considered them testimonials, not a new set of standards,' he says. 'It's always been the local regions' option of how to adopt them.'"

Applying for a Grant
A central mission of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation is to provide service to communities and individuals through responsive grantmaking. Grant programs are designed to strengthen NH communities through the nonprofit sector.
A strong nonprofit sector is defined by organizations performing vital services while maintaining an adequate income stream, committed volunteer leadership, and the ability to serve their communities. The nonprofit sector also grows stronger as organizations find ways to link with other nonprofit organizations, local groups and public agencies.
When considering grant applications, the Foundation Directors will consider these broad goals, as well as the specific grantmaking priorities of the Foundation and the regions.
Contact Us Specific questions about grant programs, forms or deadlines should be directed to the Program Department . Program staff are available during regular office hours, Monday through Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm.

The ECAP Collaborative is home to more than a dozen projects that focus on educating and raising young children. A major emphasis is the importance of social-emotional development, and its relationship to school readiness. ECAP supports research, technical assistance, and service projects. In addition, ECAP collects and describes the literature on elementary and early education, care, and child development.
The Prekindergarten Research in Progress database provides descriptions of ongoing or recently completed studies of State-funded prekindergarten programs, or studies that use State-funded prekindergarten programs as one of several settings for research. Two examples are (1) The National Survey of Lead Teachers in State-Funded Prekindergarten Programs (also known as the National Prekindergarten Study), and (2) a study of parent involvement in rural Illinois state-funded prekindergarten programs conducted by Dr. Brent McBride at the University of Illinois. Project staff plan to add several records to the database each month.

New Hampshire THE NEW HAMPSHIRE INTEGRATED LEARNING PROJECT Description of the Project The New Hampshire Integrated Learning Project, as described and outlined below, provides an opportunity for New Hampshire state resources and systems that are already in place to work collaboratively under one vision. It is a state project designed to bring leaders and stakeholders together to develop guidelines and resources around quality arts integration within the framework of a professional development plan that will train staff and administrators in arts integration for planning curriculum, delivering content, assessing student work, effecting positive change in school culture and climate, and assuring access to the general curriculum and a free and appropriate education for all students. With a focus on the power of the arts to ensure student success for school improvement, this project will bring together local education agencies, state agencies, model programs in arts integration, professional preparation and continuing education as well as educators, community, and family support organizations for students with special needs with systems of accountability and assessment.
