New Brunswick Aboriginal Peoples Council Welcome to the New Brunswick Aboriginal Peoples Council (NBAPC) Website NBAPC is a community of Aboriginal people residing off-reserve in Mi'kmaq/Maliseet/Passamaquoddy Traditional Territory of New Brunswick. Our community is widely dispersed through out the province in villages, towns, cities and rural areas. We are people of Aboriginal Ancestry for whom NBAPC provides services, programs and a political voice to air our concerns. We will be adding new events as they occur in the coming weeks. We look forward to hearing from you with your comments.
MISSION STATEMENT To the New Brunswick Aboriginal Peoples Council, self-government begins – but does not end – with control over our land. Government means jurisdiction over our renewable and non-renewable resources, education, health and social services, public order and the shape and composition of our political institutions. While some of our plans may sound far-reaching to some people, they should not be regarded as a threat. We do not want to recreate a world that has vanished. We do not want to turn back the clock. Far from it. We welcome the challenge to see our culture grow and change in directions that we have chosen for ourselves. We do not want to become the objects of sentimentality. Nor do we want our culture to be preserved in amber for the amusement or even the edification of others. What we do want, what we demand, is nothing more than control over our own lives and destiny. That control is called

Restoration of The State Theater brings back culture to New Brunswick
By Jacqueline Gulotta
Published: 11/11/2004

The effort to restore The State Theatre in New Brunswick to its 1920s glory days includes redecoration of the interior, as shown in the top and middle photos, and upgraded sound system for better acoustics.
While the stage of the State Theatre lay dormant for 16 weeks this summer, its architects, contractors and restoration experts raced against the clock to restore it to its rightful place as the city's cultural landmark, one of only five original theaters to survive in New Brunswick.
Architect Thomas W. Lamb designed the State Theatre in 1921. Its reopening marked a return to the building's original 1920's neoclassical style. After the theatre succumbed to a rise and fall as a major arts presenter, restoration efforts became a big step in the city's revitalization effort.
A $3 million grant from the Middlesex County Open Space Recreation and Farmland Historic Preservation Trust Fund, along with financial support from the county and its board of chosen freeholders, all enabled the restoration of the theatre to its historical greatness.

The province is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, which means the catch of the day is just that. Historic Sites Visit Beaubears Island, an Acadian refugee settlement, or St. Andrews Blockhouse National Historic Site constructed during the war of 1812 and situated in the picturesque seaside resort of St. Andrews. For a relatively small province, New Brunswick certainly has a lot of history and culture to explore. Visit any one of the province's many museums and galleries, and you'll be able to see for yourself. Performing Arts Music and dance are part of the rhythm of life in New Brunswick. Little wonder, then, that performing arts festivals and celebrations are a regular feature of province's social calendar, year round. Visual Arts New Brunswick is home to a remarkable range of visual arts displays that span the province from its hinterlands to the shores of its smallest seaside communities to the city halls of its busiest cities.

FibraStage™-A Disposable, High-Yield Cell Culture System
New Brunswick Scientific Co., Inc. New Brunswick Scientific is pleased to introduce FibraStage, a disposable cell culture system that produces high product yields while decreasing labor demands over traditional cell culture devices. FibraStage is an inexpensive and easy-to-use system, capable of producing protein, virus or biomass from a wide variety of anchorage-dependent or suspension cultures. Depending on your cell line and desired end product, up to four FibraStage bottles can produce yields of 2.4 x 10 with minimal effort. A single FibraStage bottle can produce a high-cell density of 6 x 10 .The system eliminates autoclaving as bottles are pre-sterilized and ready to go. The FibraStage is plug and play simple and eliminates cross contamination between batches as the bottles are simply disposed of when done. Finally this system has no costly start up as there is no need for expensive designs, nor piped-in steam, water lines or other utilities.

Eastern New Brunswick Area
Click on the map for a full size version The Eastern New Brunswick Area covers the New Brunswick coastline bordering the Gulf of St. Lawrence and that part of New Brunswick traversed by rivers flowing into the Gulf. Not only is the Eastern New Brunswick Area vast in size, it also possesses the largest number of French-speaking fishers in the Gulf Region (they account for nearly 60 per cent of all licence holders). Approximately 50 per cent of the DFO employees are bilingual in this area. DFO 's main office for Eastern New Brunswick is located in Tracadie-Sheila, and there are 13 detachments which deliver the Department's services throughout the area. Licensing is handled through the Tracadie-Sheila and Richibouctou offices. The area possesses about 50 small craft harbours between the estuary of the Restigouche River and the southeastern tip of New Brunswick's coastline. Ten of the 14 First Nations of the Gulf Region are located in eastern New Brunswick, accounting for over 80 per cent of the 11,000 Aboriginal people living on reserves within the Gulf Region.

Also included in the sidebar are curriculum outcome charts from New Brunswick’s English Language Arts and Social Studies curricula. These charts include links to supporting MNet resources and lessons. Last updated July 2002 Curricular Overview During the 1990s, New Brunswick continued moving toward the development and implementation of integrated curricula at the elementary and secondary school levels.
