Left to Right:
Helena Petrovna Blavatsky (1831-1891) - Contacted by the Master Morya in 1851. After years of contact with her spirit masters she helped to found the Theosophical Society in 1875. Published Isis Unveiled in 1877, established Lucifer , an occult magazine, in London in 1887, and then published The Secret Doctrine in 1888.
Alice Ann Bailey (1880-1949) - Contacted by the Master Koot Humi in 1895. In 1917 she became acquainted with students of Blavatsky and then joined the Theosophical Society. In 1919 the Master Djwhal Khul contacted her and asked for her assistance in taking some dictation. At first she refused out of fear, but then later accepted upon instruction from the Master Koot Humi . The Master Djwhal Khul then wrote eighteen books through Bailey from 1922-1960. She founded the hugely influential Lucis Trust in 1922.

R202 New Age Religion in the 19th Century (Folk) (3 credits) Daily, 8:55-10:10 BH 219 What is the New Age and is it really all that new? This survey of nineteenth-century metaphysical movements will use these older traditions to consider contemporary New Age and "alternative" spirituality. The aims of this course are to answer questions about the philosophical perspective of alternative religions, and to understand how and why these diverse movements interact in consistent patterns over the course of two centuries. This approach will help document and interpret a major, persistent impulse in American religion. The New Age in the Nineteenth Century will be divided into five units, focusing on Swedenborgianism and Transcendentalism; Spiritualism and the Occult; Buddhism, Hinduism and Theosophy; health and dietary reform; and New Thought and Mind Cure. Readings will be drawn from recent secondary literature and original sources, as well as recent pieces from American popular culture.

AUGURIES AND OMENS: NEW AGE RELIGION FOR THE NYTIMES READER
The NYTimes op-ed page, so alert to the dangers of Christian fundamentalism, offers up new age religion for the West Side liberal. Simon Winchester finds meaning in the latest eruptions of nature. Naturally we're to blame for messing with Nature and arousing her wrath. Like a primitive aborigine, Winchester personifies nature and imagines her a hapless victim of human depradations. Had we paid attention to such omens as the fact that, according to the Chinese, this was the Year of the Monkey, we might have prepared for "terrestrial mischief". Winchester mingles just enough scientific data with his bizarre New Age fantasies to qualify as an 'intellectual'. He speculates about far reaching connections with events occurring around the globe, and in a masterly bit of obfuscation, asserts that " There is of course no hard scientific truth - no firm certainty that a rupture on a tectonic boundary in the western Pacific (in Honshu, say) can lead directly to a break in a boundary in the eastern Pacific (in Parkfield), or another in the eastern Indian ocean (off Sumatra, say). But anecdotally, as this year has so tragically shown, there is evidence aplenty..."

Worshipping the Ground We Walk On
Global Education Associates By Carrie Tomko Will the current sex abuse scandal prompt the Bishops to take a critical look at dissenting groups in the Church who enjoy the privilege of calling themselves Catholic while promoting ideas which are not? One group which falls into that category is Global Education Associates (GEA). While not, strictly speaking, a Catholic organization, more than 150 Catholic congregations of women religious make up a large percentage of its membership through the GEA-Religious Orders Partnership. GEA, founded in 1973 by Gerald and Patricia Mische, is a leading civil society organization working to educate for the emerging global context of human affairs. It has a presence in more than 90 countries and enjoys United Nations NGO status. The organization promotes United Religions Initiative, the Earth Charter, the World Court, and the work of Passionist priest Thomas Berry who is one of their International Advisers. Two of GEA’s affiliates are Genesis Farm, a biodynamic farm run by the Dominican Sisters of Caldwell, New Jersey, and Michaela Farm, also biodynamic, run by the Oldenburg Franciscan sisters. Both farms promote Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) whereby local residents buy shares in the farm and receive in return fruits and vegetables grown on the farm in proportion to their shares. Solstice and Equinox festivals are celebrated on the farm with the shareholders. The May-August 1999 issue of the GEA newsletter

The author introduces the reader to selected basic concepts of Tarot, the Hermetic Cabala, Alchemy and, to a lesser extent, Astrology. However, the heart of her book comprises a generally insightful exploration of correspondences between these metaphysical systems from esoteric and pschological perspectives. Calling upon her experience as a Jungian psychoanalyst and knowledge of Western Esotericism or Occultism, she analyzes each Major Arcanum in depth. She explores their themes, associations, and symbolic language. However, she only occasionally discusses her subject from an historical perspective; when she does, she makes significant errors. She also rarely references the copious traditional Cabalistic literature. Finally, Gad very briefly explains how to use the cards for divination and includes a few spreads. The book addresses the Major Arcana only. Gettings, Fred

The Shroud of Turin, Comet Hale-Bopp, The New Age and Astrology - prophecies of the future, world events and the economy
"The Truth is Above There"
I will discuss in this web site the Shroud of Turin and its connection to comets, my new theories on astrology and New Age subjects, my prophecies of future events, the horoscope of Princess Diana, Prince Charles, and Countess Sophie. I also discuss the mythology of the Antichrist, the Bible's Book of Revelation, and other subjects. The Antichrist is described in Revelation as a Satanic imitation of Christ, who will seem to be the saviour of mankind, who appears during the period of time called the End Times, a period of disasters, wars, and diseases.
The Shroud of Turin is believed to be the burial cloth of Christ, by many people. It is a a 14 foot long cloth religious relic that is stored in Turin, Italy, in a cathedral. There appears to be on the cloth an image of a man who has been crucified.
On April 11, 1997, there was a fire in the Cathedral holding the Shroud of Turin, the Shroud was miraculously saved because of the bravery of a Turin fireman who rescued it from the building.

    Introduction
T he article located at this URL , and earlier at Geocities, was first written 4 years ago. Since then I have learned a bit more about Freemasonry and have had many communications, good and bad, with its members. I've been put on an "anti-mason" [hit]list , along with others who dare to write anything unflattering against the brethren; I've had heated debates and arguments in public forums and message boards; and I've actually been threatened, both subtly and overtly. Curiously, many times the offended Mason claims to be a chaplain, a minister or a supposed "man of cloth," a real surprise, at first, considering the occult nature of the organization. The negative experiences far outweigh the positive. The members who regularly post to forums and send out emails display the traits of one who's been thoroughly brainwashed by a first-class cult. Some are far more clever, however, and are undoubtedly part of a concerted effort by

It is the province of Masonry to teach all truths, not moral truth alone, but political and philosophical, and even religious truth.
Illustrious Albert Pike
Teacher of the World's Children by Paul Fisher A previously noted quotation by Albert Pike, is important to recall. He said: "It is the province of Masonry to teach all truths, not moral truth alone, but political and philosophical, and even religious truth." Indeed, shaping the minds of the world's youth has been an unremitting major activity of the Masonic Fraternity. Historian Mildred Headings said the true purpose pursued by French Masons is "the fall of all dogmas and the ruin of all churches." She also noted that the Fraternity successfully campaigned in France to promote universal obligatory lay education and the use of school texts with Masonic values. And what happened in France, has happened largely in America. In 1915, the Scottish Rite urged that graduates of American public schools be given "preference in every appointment to public office."

This study is a response to calls for precisely this type of research. Drawing on ethnographies, case studies, impressionistic treatments of New Age participation, as well as the handful of existing survey-based studies, we outline a series of hypotheses linking consumption of New Age materials (i.e., books, magazines, audio or videotapes, and so forth) with (1) sociodemographic characteristics, (2) conventional religious affiliation and participation, as well as adherence to New Age beliefs, (3) embeddedness within social networks of New Age believers and consumers, and (4) community religious context. Using data from the June 1998 Texas Poll (Scripps Howard News Service 1998) we test these various hypotheses regarding purchase of New Age materials. We then conclude by discussing the theoretical implications of our work and identify several promising directions for future research.

A special message to my readers from T. Chase:
As I write this on Sept. 21, a giant Hurricane Rita is headed for the Galveston / Houston Texas area. Let us hope it will turn South and hit a largely unpopulated area of Mexico, or stay out to sea and die out in the middle of the Gulf Mexico. Let us hope it does not hit the U.S., and that it does not damage oil rigs and refineries in the Gulf of Mexico area. The U.S. cannot afford another disaster like Hurricane Katrina. I am asking my worldwide readers to please focus their thoughts on this hurricane, and imagine it turning south towards Mexico and losing all of its strength. This is something I believe we can do: if enough of us will focus on this hurricane and visualize we can make it change course to the south and weaken.
Thanks for your help.
