and the Himalaya near Mount Everest Mountains and temples Nepal is a country of stark geographical and cultural diversity. The historical center of Nepal is the Kathmandu Valley where two of the world's great religions, Hinduism and Buddhism, mingle in jumbled and busy towns. In dramatic contrast to the valleys and plains are the high mountains of the Himalaya that rise in the north of Nepal. Despite an inhospitable landscape of towering icy peaks, the Nepal Himalaya harbors remote Buddhist shrines and monasteries. These are revered by people who live by their culture and faiths in this harsh but pious region. Swayambhunath Buddhist Stupa near Kathmandu. The Kathmandu Valley Nepal is a very spiritual country where Hinduism and Buddhism have become intermingled in a way that is often impossible for the visitor to understand. The old parts of the towns of the Kathmandu Valley are packed with extraordinary temples and shrines that reflect this complex system of religious beliefs. The major towns of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Patan were once separate competing city-states ruled by Malla kings. The time-worn temples and shrines of the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal, like these in Bhaktapur, are infused with detail and symbolic meaning.

Welcome to Wisdom Tours
Highlights! Download wallpaper for your desktop! Jim Hagan and Robert Thurman at Castleton State College. When we established Wisdom Tours, our mission was to share our experiences with our guests by offering cultural tours that are insightful, unique, and unlike any other tours available. With personal relationships developed over years of travel, we were able to create insiders' tours offering an authentic experience of these extraordinary cultures. "I have been a tour guide for many years and have led numerous trips for other tour companies throughout my homeland of Tibet. No other tour company has ever surpassed Wisdom Tours for their sincere interest in our culture. As a result, Tibetans happily share their proud heritage with Jim and the visitors he brings to Tibet." — Tenpa, Tibetan Scholar
