http://www.wncc.net/general/genedreq.html
WNCC General Education Requirements The general education requirements for associate degrees at Western Nebraska Community College are consistent with the College's philosophy, role, and mission which state that all students should demonstrate competencies which would allow them to seek higher education, participate as an active member in society or achieve responsible careers in a contemporary work environment. More specifically, students in career-oriented areas should be able to communicate, to calculate, evaluate, and to understand the social and scientific implications of the world around them. Students seeking transfer to a baccalaureate program should complete a general education requirement which is broad in scope and requires an in-depth level of inquiry. The College recognizes that student learning goals may change during a lifetime; therefore, the general education requirement for all degrees is collegiate in nature and, as such, should provide an academic foundation for lifelong learning. It is designed to meet students at their levels of ability and assist them in attaining collegiate levels of performance. Not all students come to the College prepared for this level of endeavor. Developmental courses, therefore, are provided to assist the student in gaining the requisite skills necessary to be successful in a work or collegiate setting.

So little research has been done on the work of screenwriter and novelist Vera Caspary (1899-1987) that her open acknowledgment in Laura (1942) of her debt to the multiple testimony narrative structure that Wilkie Collins developed in The Woman in White (1860) and The Moonstone (1868) is virtually unknown, yet the influence extends even beyond the direct link that Caspary offered for inspection. What Caspary did not highlight in testimonial documents were the additional parallels between her work and Collins' great novels. Archival evidence, including the unpublished screen treatment that preceded the novel, indicates that the principal characterizations of Laura , as well as its sensational plot, benefited beyond structure from Collins' influence...

Reports of Papers Presented In Lincoln, Nebraska, USA - 10-14 July 2000
Author: ISME Publishing date: 05.03.2003 17:40 Title: Scaffolding and diagnosis: side benefits of pedagogical innovation revealed by action research. Author: Dr Nicholas Bannan Abstract: This paper sets out to illustrate how action research designed to investigate and develop the properties of an innovative pedagogy ('Harmony Signing') gave rise to new data and analysis. Outcomes of this project illuminate the processes by which a scaffolding of musical thinking and feeling can be established, and where participation in 'Harmony Signing' can provide useful diagnostic information for the teacher regarding how students are developing in their musical perceptions and responses. This research is relevant to the stated themes of the Seminar in respect to the following issues:
  • the re-integration into traditional practice of procedures drawing on technological advances ('unplugged information technology') breathing fresh air into the pedagogical means by which the practice of singing in schools is maintained, especially in cultures in which it has declined

    PESTICIDE PROGRAM
    Tim Creger, Program Manager
    Pesticide Applicator Certification and Licensing
The Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) is responsible for the certification and licensing of pesticide applicators in Nebraska. NDA does not regulate the process of applying pesticides in irrigation water (chemigation) or facilities where pesticides are mixed or loaded. These two functions are regulated by the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ). Interested persons should look for Chemigation and Agricultural Chemical Secondary Containment under the Agriculture Programs heading on NDEQ's web page for more information. Certification of pesticide applicators is intended to assure that persons who use certain pesticides or who make specific types of pesticide applications have a fundamental understanding of how to do so safely. Pesticide applicator certification is the foundation for the safe and effective use of pesticides. Pesticides are classified as either "general-use" or "restricted-use." General-use pesticides are considered safe for use by the average person provided they follow the label directions. In most cases, there is no certification or licensing requirements for the use of a general-use pesticide. Two notable exceptions to this rule are the use of structural or lawn care pesticides. In Nebraska, people who apply general-use structural or lawn care pesticides for hire are required to be certified and licensed as a commercial pesticide applicator with the NDA. Persons who apply these types of general-use pesticides
