Guarantee Agencies Federal student loans are extremely low risk loans, as compared with other types of unsecured loans, in part because the Federal government guarantees them against default. This section of FinAid provides information about student loan guarantee agencies, also referred to as student loan guarantors and student loan guaranty agencies. Guarantee agencies insure student loans against default. The 1% guarantee fee that is collected from each disbursement is paid to the designated guarantee agency to cover the costs of insuring the loan. (Some guarantee agencies have built up enough of a reserve that they are able to waive or reduce the guarantee fee.) If the borrower defaults, dies or becomes totally and permanently disabled, the guarantee agency reimburses the lender for the balance remaining on the loan. Coordinating K-12 and Higher Education Systems to Support Student Achievement
Many local school-college efforts are operating across the country. These partnerships principally center around curriculum development (academic alliances), teacher preparation and professional development (clinical or professional development schools), and student support services (early outreach programs that include mentoring or tutorial supports). While the programs are encouraging, the vast majority still operate on the margin, in both schools and postsecondary institutions. Unfortunately, most have yet to be integrated into the structure and programs of the institutions. New Governance Structures. One strategy for coordinating K-12 and higher education systems is to create a governance structure that assigns direct responsibility for such coordination. In 1991, the Maryland Higher Education Commission and the Maryland State Department of Education jointly appointed and currently share a deputy secretary of higher education/deputy superintendent of education. The role of the office is to coordinate and promote the concept of a single continuum of education kindergarten through graduate school. The deputy is responsible for coordinating the complementary interests, programs, and authority of both state agencies for achieving shared state education goals. These responsibilities include the following:

The charter members included the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, Northeast Regional Medical Center, Northeast Missouri Health Council, and Hospice of Northeast Missouri. Today, the Network is still committed to coordinating and improving the access of quality basic health care services to all residents, with a special emphasis on impacting populations such as the medically underserved, uninsured and underinsured. The NMRHN has grown to 43 member agencies consisting of five rural hospitals, ten county health departments, ten ambulance districts, an air ambulance service, two medical education agencies, four mental health providers, a federally qualified health center, four nursing homes, hospice, pregnancy resource center, domestic violence center, home health agency, medical clinic and association for handicapped citizens.

listing of states by RRC
What are the Regional Resource Centers?
The six Regional Resource Centers (RRCs) are specifically funded to assist state education agencies in the systemic improvement of education programs, practices, and policies that affect children and youth with disabilities. The RRCs help states and U.S. jurisdictions find integrated solutions for systemic reform, offering consultation, information services, technical assistance, training, and product development. The beneficiaries of the RRCs' work are children and youth with disabilities, and the families and professionals associated with them.
