Military Schools for Troubled Teenagers
The public school system of today is not fully equipped to handle troubled teenagers. Often times, parents turn to military schools as an option to discipline and educate their troubled teenagers. Military schools , which seemed headed for extinction in the late 1960s and early '70s, have seen enrollments increase steadily in recent years. Many military schools are jammed to capacity and sport long waiting lists, as anxious parents scramble for slots. This website will give more information about military schools as an option for troubled teens as well as other alternatives for troubled teens. There is also history of military schools and general information about military schools. Alabama AL Alaska AK ... Visit Our Directory Resources: Home Site Directory Military School Options.

Representatives from each of the five military service academies as well as Mississippi alumni of the institutions will be present to meet with students
(Pearl, Miss.) - Third District Congressman Chip Pickering will host his annual Military Academy Day on Saturday, March 12 at Madison Central High School in Madison County from 9:00 a.m. until noon. The Military Academy Day provides interested students and parents an opportunity to learn more about our nation's military academies, requirements for admission and the appointment process. The event is free and open to the public. Congressman Pickering and members of his staff will be joined by representatives from each of the five service academies: U.S. Military Academy (West Point), Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, Merchant Marine Academy and Coast Guard Academy.
"This Military Academy Day is a service to those interested in learning more about, or attending our country's service academies," Pickering explained. "Many young people from Mississippi have graduated from these academies and excelled in all walks of life as a result of the quality education and training they received at these institutions."

Contact: BRIAN PERRY: 202-225-5031 SECURING OUR HOMELAND; SUPPORTING OUR MILITARY This past December, Congress passed and President George W. Bush signed the Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004. During debate, my colleagues determined that specific border security and terrorist tracking provisions needed further consideration and those matters were removed from the final bill. But we were given assurances those matters would move early this year and so last month we passed the Real ID Act (HR418). This measure would implement much-needed driver's license reforms, close asylum loopholes, enhance border security and strengthen deportation laws.
The Real ID Act tightens national standards for state driver's licenses and identity cards to prevent a state issued paper drivers license from New York, illegally and easily forged, to be used to board a plane in Mississippi. It requires foreign identification applicants to prove they are legally in the country and links the expiration date of their identity documents to the expiration of their lawful entry status, preventing those who illegally entered or are unlawfully remaining in the U.S. from having valid identification documents.
The bill tightens up our asylum laws to better ensure only those foreign nationals with legitimate needs are able to remain in sanctuary in our country, and to prohibit false claims which could be abused by terrorists. It would allow immigration judges to weigh the credibility of asylum applicants in a variety of proceedings, while removing the annual cap of 10,000 refugees who may become legitimate permanent residents. It also authorizes the completion of a security fence along the US-Mexico border near San Diego.

Military Schools
What Military Schools Have to Offer
Military Schools General Rules
These types of schools all have very strict guidelines that must be followed, no exceptions. Most schools start at 6 am sharp, and all cadets are expected to be in formation fully dressed in their uniforms, with their boots polished. Girls that are in a military school are not allowed to wear bright nail polish, or lots of makeup. Their hair has to be either put up in buns, or cut above the collar of their uniforms. Most military schools will have their cadets called to formation before allowing them to have their meals.
Privileges are earned in a military school, if you want something you have to work for it. If a cadet wants to play a video game or go to town on the weekend, they have to earn this privilege. To earn these privileges, a cadet has to earn rank; you give nothing, you get nothing. Military schools do not allow any types of misbehaving, this includes fighting, the use of any drug, or sexual activities either in the school or when on leave to go into town. Being able to work together as a team is a requirement that is necessary from every cadet in a military school.
Military Schools Not for Everyone
Military schools can be great for some children and help them to excel as an adult, but these schools are not for everyone. Some children would not be able to deal with this type of disciplinary school. Any child with the following problems probably would not do well in a military school. If they:

Mississippi State University Bands: History
Reveille in the morning and signaled lights out with Taps in the evening. Drum and bugle corps were used to assist in the military ceremonies from time to time, but these were established and disbanded at the whim of the commandant in charge.
The band required auditions for membership as early as 1911. The first-chair men, together with the director, voted on whether the prospective members played well enough to merit membership in the band. The band had a fraternity-like atmosphere, due in large part to the fact that one section of Old Main was set aside as the band quarters and all bandsmen lived there. A highlight of this period was a Liberty Bonds tour by the band during which they traveled to Niagara Falls by train to raise money for the military effort of World War I. It is known that in 1918 a small group called the "Jazzer-up Jazz Band" was in existence in addition to the regular band. The instrumentation of this 8-piece group included cornet, violin, saxophone, clarinet, flute, trombone, drums, and piano.
In 1924 the band had its first performance at the halftime of a football game. Prior to this time the majority of outdoor performances were done at fairs in Meridian, Jackson, Tupelo, and Grenada where the band provided grandstand entertainment.
