Home Why SL-Tech? About Us Contact ... Site Map
About Us Company Background Incorporated in 1985 as SNAP Systems, School-Link Technologies (SL-Tech) is dedicated to the business of K-12 school food service information management and accountability. It is our only business. SL-Tech, owned by Lawrence Goodman III, is the school food service industry's recognized leader, having provided automated solutions for over 1,000 school districts nationally, including 10,000 POS devices in more than 8,000 school buildings across the nation, feeding 5 million children daily. Our software is installed at 99 of the largest 250 districts in the nation. We understand the unique obstacles that face districts in an implementation of this magnitude, and we have developed the tools and project experience to make any implementation a success. In January of 1998, SNAP Systems, acquired CAFS, Inc., a Biloxi, Mississippi-based developer of software for school food service. SNAP Systems and CAFS have the experience and resources to understand all aspects of K-12 school food service information technology. In 1999, School-Link Network was formed to fill an industry need for student identification cards that interoperate amongst various K-12 administrative applications. In January 2001, School-Link Technologies was formed as a consolidation of the former SNAP Systems, CAFS, and School-Link Network.

Ms. Evans joined NetDay as the CEO in September 1999. Prior to NetDay, she enjoyed a very successful 17-year career in the technology for-profit sector. Her career includes 12 years in regional sales and marketing management with Unisys including several years as the Western Region Director of Marketing Services. Ms. Evans' corporate experiences were a significant asset in her post-Unisys work with two startup companies in the educational technology arena. The first startup, BrightIdeas, was an educational software distribution firm with community-based consultants who helped parents and teachers select high quality software for children through the evaluation of student learning styles matched with grade and developmentally appropriate curriculum goals. When Pearson Learning acquired BrightIdeas, Ms. Evans assumed a new position on the management team as the National Sales Director. In that capacity, she developed a successful professional development program for teachers that integrated curricular standards, educational software, websites and hands-on activities to meet instructional goals in the K-6 classroom.

How can we maximize our return on investment, back winners and avoid losers? Jamie McKenzie shares a dozen strategies to help teachers and administrators make discerning use of new technologies along with sustained use of classical technologies and learning strategies. He suggests ways to sort through the noise of conflicting marketing pitches and claims to focus in upon value, reliability and authenticity. The goal?
