Utermohlen Receives Chancellor's Teaching Award Associate Professor Virginia Utermohlen has been awarded a 1997 State University of New York Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching. The annual awards recognize outstanding performance in the classroom, scholarship and professional growth, willingness to contribute time to students, the maintenance of high standards for student work, and commitment to their intellectual growth. Utermohlen is the third DNS faculty member to receive the honor. Previous winners were Professors David Levitsky and Priscilla Tennant. Sahn Appointed Professor
David Sahn
, director of the Cornell Food and Nutrition Policy Program , has been named professor of economics. He came to the division in 1987 to serve as deputy director of the CFNPP after four years as a research fellow at the International Food Policy Research Institute in Washington, D.C. He assumed the directorship of the program and was appointed associate professor of economics in 1992. Sahn received a bachelor's degree in general studies in 1974 and a master's degree in public health in 1976, both from the University of Michigan, and a Ph.D. degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1984. After working as a nutritionist for the Supplemental Feeding Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) of the State of North Carolina, he was a senior research associate for Community Systems Foundations in Ann Arbor, Michigan, from 19977 to 1983. He also served as a research associate for the United Nations University from 1980 to 1982.

What is the LET Program?
The Leadership, Education and Training (LET) Program in Maternal and Child Nutrition provides graduate education and training and continuing education programs for Registered Dietitians, nutritionists and other health professionals who are interested in developing a specialization in maternal and child nutrition. The LET program is part of the graduate program in public health nutrition, located in the Division of Epidemiology within the School of Public Health at the University of Minnesota. Areas of faculty expertise and specialization include: maternal nutrition, child and adolescent nutrition, prevention of eating disorders, childhood obesity, school and community nutrition intervention programs, dietary assessment methods, nutritional epidemiology, and factors affecting child and adolescent growth and development. This program is supported through a grant from the US Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Health Resources and Services Administration, Maternal and Child Health Bureau.

In 1994, because the agency no longer dealt with just "nursing services", the agency eliminated "Nursing" from its name. Minneapolis Internship Application Information Letter DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS Dear Internship Applicant: Thank you for your interest in the Minneapolis VA Medical Center Dietetic Internship. In this packet is a description of the diverse learning experiences offered in our ADA Accredited program. To be considered as a candidate for admission to the internship, an applicant must submit the following: 1. A completed application form using the standard ADA forms.
2. A current resume.
3. A letter of application. The letter should be typed and include reasons for applying, short and long tern career goals, strengths and weaknesses, and personal interests.
4. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited education institution to include an official college transcript(s) with certification of degree or include the most recent semester grades with a statement of anticipated date of graduation. Minimum GPA 2.85
