      Procedure 3.9.2 Transitional Licensure Plan for General Studies Faculty at MnSCU Technical Colleges
      for Board Policy 3.9 Part 1. Authority
      Board Policy 3.9, Licensure of Faculty Requiring a License, delegates to the chancellor authority to promulgate procedures, guidelines and processes regarding license fields and minimum qualifications. Part 2. Applicability
      This procedure applies only to faculty represented by the UTCE bargaining unit at a technical college that is not consolidated with a community college and who hold an active license in a general studies program area and seek to teach in a general education assigned field. This procedure shall be effective through June 30, 2004. Part 3. Purpose
      On June 16, 1999, the MnSCU Board of Trustees approved Policy 3.25 Degree Granting Authority, which gives technical colleges the authority to offer the educational programming required to support the awarding of associate degrees. Under this policy, the technical colleges have the authority to offer general education courses. Faculty who teach in a general education assigned field are required to meet licensure requirements specific for that general education assigned field: a minimum of a master's degree with a major in the assigned field

      3.21 Undergraduate Credit Transfer
      Part 1. Institutional Transfer Policy. Each institution shall adopt policies to implement the requirements of the Undergraduate Credit Transfer Policy. Such policies shall be published in the institution's course catalog and other appropriate publications. Part 2. Minnesota General Education Transfer Curriculum. Each MnSCU institution shall implement the Minnesota General Education Transfer Curriculum as appropriate to their degrees. Each institution shall have an internal procedure which applies to all students transferring among MnSCU institutions and which shall provide for student appeals of transfer decisions. In addition, the institutional procedure shall include provisions for informing students about transferring the Minnesota General Education Transfer Curriculum to and from the University of Minnesota and may include provisions governing the transfer of credits from non-MnSCU institutions that are not parties to the Minnesota General Education Transfer Curriculum. Part 3. Transfers Between MnSCU Institutions.

Some courses in the St. Olaf curriculum count for more than one graduation requirement at the same time. A course taken for Studies in Natural Science may also be the first course in the chemistry major. A course taught in the Department of English may simultaneously satisfy requirements for Literary Studies and Multicultural Studies. Courses with writing usually fulfill more than one requirement. In addition, students may complete requirements with courses taken on international and off-campus programs. General Education Requirements Worksheet General Education Requirements Key The codes for the General Education Requirements are listed below. When a course fulfills a General Education requirement, the code for each requirement being fulfilled is noted under heading "General Education Requirement Fulfilled" in the Class and Lab Schedule. For example, a course fulfilling both Historical Studies in Western Culture (HWC) and Multicultural Studies - Global (MCS-G) would be coded HWC, MCS-G.
