text only Science in society Science and art Performing arts Antarctic Waves Antarctic Waves is a new music making toolkit for key stage 3, GCSE, and A level students (and equivalent UK qualifications) which uses real science, images and sounds from the Antarctic to inspire musical composition. It has been developed by the British Antarctic Survey, and creative multimedia company Braunarts. Braunarts have developed unique software that enables students to hear and musically manipulate the data from the Antarctic. The Web Site contains three main areas: the Virtual tour of the 'sights and sounds' of the Antarctic; Making music, an interactive section using bespoke sounds and which includes detailed 'Composing Guides', and Connections, a history of the production. Antarctic Waves has been made possible by an Education award from Nesta, and it is also a Science Year supported project.
