Dance develops both form and grace.
Apple Tree Theatre Company is the newest activity of the Performing Arts Workshop. Our first production, 'Finian's Rainbow", was seen by over 2,000 people and was well received in the community. Apple Tree's open auditions offer our students and others performance opportunities in a broader, more professional setting. Apple Tree Theatre Company provides quality family theatre for the entire community! The Performing Arts Workshop staff serves as a resource personnel in the arts to local community groups, park districts, and school systems, presenting in-service consultation and workshop programs for teachers and students. We also serve as a consulting theatrical production team and can provide original scripts, music, choreography, musical arrangements or staging assistance for community theatre and school musical productions. Students come to us for a variety of reasons . . . Some wish to become the "triple threat" of the theatre: one who has mastered all the skills—acting, singing and dancing! Some want simply to gain the confidence to participate in various projects with their peers, while others want to be in a creative and spontaneous activity that is fun!

Antarctic Waves Antarctic Waves is a new music making toolkit for key stage 3, GCSE, and A level students (and equivalent UK qualifications) which uses real science, images and sounds from the Antarctic to inspire musical composition. It has been developed by the British Antarctic Survey, and creative multimedia company Braunarts. Braunarts have developed unique software that enables students to hear and musically manipulate the data from the Antarctic. The Web Site contains three main areas: the Virtual tour of the 'sights and sounds' of the Antarctic; Making music, an interactive section using bespoke sounds and which includes detailed 'Composing Guides', and Connections, a history of the production. Antarctic Waves has been made possible by an Education award from Nesta, and it is also a Science Year supported project. Science - Study and teaching - Aids and devices Music and science Dramatic science : "Learning to love the grey" and "Making astronauts" Dramatic science, a BBC/Open University learning collaboration, provides details on two contemporary dramas tackling two controversial scientific topics: cloning and genetic selection. "Learning to love the grey" is a love story that brings into "sharp focus the social, ethical and moral issues emerging from current developments in cloning technology"; whilst "Making astronauts" is a drama that delves into the lives of two prospective parents who consider using the latest scientific developments to genetically select their child. The web site explores the science behind the dramas with accompanying views of expert panels. There is also an online debate where views can be given on the moral and ethical dilemmas.
