Marcel Marceau ConcludesFarewell Tour
U.S. Tour: March 2-April 16, 2003 Marcel Marceau , the world's most famous mime, returned to the United States during the spring of 2002 for what was billed as his Farewell Tour. Beloved since the 1950s for his creation of the clown Bip and for his innovative "mimodramas", Marceau continued to charm young and old alike. (For more information, go to Marcel Marceau Biography The San Francisco Chronicle bid adieu to the great mime with regret:: " Bittersweet and silent adieu: Retiring Marceau, 80, thrills fans in Marin
April 16, 2003
"It was billed as his farewell, and one can only hope he didn't mean it [...] [Marceau's] show was familiar yet surprising, perfect, a gift. Slender and spry, seemingly ageless but actually 80, androgynous, lovely and so very French, the world's greatest mime creates play without text, music out of silence. [...] Marceau [...] had everyone laughing, sighing and crying, cheering long and loud at the end. He created whole worlds with a tilt of an eyebrow or the stretch of an arm, with a glance or a smile. He displayed the essence of theater, the very soul of dance. [...]

I Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and president of the International Theater Institute Edward Albee, Trinity Class of 1950, with students at Trinity/LaMaMa The program offers students an intensive semester-in-the-city residency that introduces them to the world of experimental theater, dance, and performance art. This unique and challenging program, offering one full semester of undergraduate or graduate credit, combines practical and theoretical courses with internships and provides students with an opportunity to experience all aspects of the avant-garde performance world. The basic program
Roberto Sifuentes is an interdisciplinary artist and the artistic director of the trinity/la mama program. His work combines live performance with interactive technologies and video as a presentation medium. It deals with the complex dynamics of desire, fear, hate, and envy that inform our perceptions and relationships with people of other nationalities, ethnicities, races, and economic classes, and which lead to "exoticization" and dehumanization of the cultural "other." A founding and principal member of La Pocha Nostra since 1994, Sifuentes has collaborated with Mexican performance artist Guillermo Gómez-Peña, presenting performance and installation work at over 200 venues throughout the United States, Europe, and Latin America.

The Moscow Expat Forums Community Arts and Culture PDA View Full Version : Performing arts - corporal mime? Josh V I was wondering if anyone knows of any person(s) in Moscow that are involved with or know about any theater, school, etc that is connected even occasionally with corporal or illusion mime. Particularly the mime movements of Etienne Ducroux and/or Marcel Marceau.
We've found quite a bit here and there about clown mime or pantomime, but that's pretty far removed from corporal mime.
Josh ghost 6-3 The Theatre Union would have that information. I don't know their number, but their building is located not far from Pushkinskaya Metro. plastique My teacher from the Shchukin knows marcel marceau personally. He knows many of the techniques and could point you in the best direction. pm me for more info

This is our 31st Anniversary! The Lithopolis Area Fine Arts Association (LAFAA) continues to bring a varied cultural program series to the area served by the Wagnalls Memorial Library. LAFAA was founded in 1973 to encourage the development of visual and performing arts in our community. Over the years it has sponsored art exhibitions, art festivals, awards to local artists, films from the classics, the annual Performing Arts Series, and Artists in the Schools workshops. The series programs and workshops have included light and serious drama, dance groups, mime, a puppeteer and a wide variety of musical events ranging from the classical to bluegrass. The Association is administered by a Governing Board of fifteen to twenty-five members elected from within the community. Programs are presented at the Wagnalls Memorial Library . The Board cannot handle all of the work required for all of the programs. Help is needed from as many members of the community as possible.

July 1, 2004 - June 31, 2005 There's something for every sensibility in Trent Arterberry's mime shows, and that's why he's been delighting audiences of every kind, from elementary schools to colleges, from theatre festivals to cruise liners, for nearly thirty years. After bringing his hilarious one-man shows to more than 500 college campuses he was named Performing Artist of the Year by the National Association of Campus Activities. In Mime Out Loud , this mime/monologuist breaks the sound barrier to weave his very funny and thought-provoking stories with dynamic body language and amusing musical accompaniments. "Arterberrry is funny without being cute, and like a cartoonist his lines of gesture and movement are broad but precise and speedy as a whiplash." (Boston Globe) "Arterberry deconstructs our physical world to reveal the absurdity and magic within it." (Monday Magazine, Victoria, BC) Outreach Options: School performances:
In Actions Speak Louder (secondary) Arterberry uses modern scenarios to examine how our own inner resources can help us to make the right decisions when confronting challenges like peer pressure, moral confusion, dangerous drugs and coercive advertising.

San Francisco Mime Troupe performs its latest hilarious comedy about an urgent issue of the day: this time, the current crisis of unaffordable housing. In City for Sale! on Thursday, October 5 at 8 p.m. in UCSB Campbell Hall, City for Sale! is performed to an original musical score, performed live on stage, that ranges from rock music parodies to corridos, gospel and samba. It is written by Mime Troupe veteran Joan Holden and her daughter/co-author Kate Chumley. In City for Sale!, a populist mayor elected on a platform of saving the city for its inhabitants is seduced by corporate plans to redevelop a neighborhood, which would result in the area becoming unaffordable for most of its eclectic, long-standing residents. Three musicians, an auto-body shop owner and a sculptor/mechanic/gardener, among others, are being ousted from their suddenly-chic homes to make way for Yuppie commuters to the Silicon Valley. When the residents make a vocal case against the changes, the mayor must contend with her social activist history and conscience. The
