Contact us today to get help for your struggling teen! Military Schools Overview
Military Schools have long been considered for providing discipline, hard work, and teamwork, to struggling or unmotivated teens. Although after further review of military schools, it will be shown that military schools are effective in very few situations where the purpose for enrolment is to provide discipline and an atmosphere condusive for positive change.
Military Schools are typically privately owned and operated prep schools modeled after the United States military based colleges and universities, such as West Point.
Typical Military Cadet
Although there are obviously cadets that don’t fit the profile, most military school students are self -motivated, obedient, desire careers in the military (typically as officers), and are typically good students as well. Many Military Schools offer either boarding or stay at home enrolment. Most of the more reputable Military Schools have been established for long periods of time, So if your son fits the above profile and is looking to enroll at a “Traditional Military School” it would be wise to find out how long the school has been in operation for. Furthermore most of these more reputable Military Schools are deeply rooted in tradition thus further enhancing the student’s learning and experience.

    College-Preparatory Boarding Schools
College preparatory boarding schools' primary goal is to prepare students for the academic rigors of college life. If you're a generally well-motivated student seeking to excel and explore new opportunities, this is the type of boarding school you're looking for. All the schools listed in our boarding school directory are exclusively college-preparatory boarding schools. Depending on the school, college-prep boarding schools may also have programs to accomodate students with learning disorders (e.g., Attention Deficit Disorder). Within college-preparatory boarding schools, there are additional distinctions between schools:

Accreditation Administrators Center for Economic and Community Development ... RSU Online A History of Rogers State University Introduction
Rogers State University has a long and proud history as a high-quality institution of higher learning serving the educational and professional needs of residents of the Claremore area, northeastern Oklahoma, and, via its distance learning programs, the nation and the world.
For more than 90 years, the institution on College Hill, which overlooks the city of Claremore, has symbolized quality education and service to area residents.
    Our Founding
RSU was founded in 1909 – just two years after Oklahoma was granted statehood. The university was officially established as Eastern University Preparatory School in Claremore by the Oklahoma Legislature in its second session. The mission of the Eastern University Preparatory School was to prepare the sons and daughters of Native Americans, farmers, and ranchers for entry into the colleges and universities of Oklahoma.
As a condition established by the Oklahoma Legislature, the citizens of Claremore led by A.L. Kates, editor of the Claremore Progress raised $3,000 to purchase land for the new institution. A group of citizens known as the “Hilltoppers” located 40 acres of land on College Hill, one mile west of Claremore. With an appropriation of $50,000 by the Oklahoma Legislature, construction began on a building for the new institution, Preparatory Hall. Today, Preparatory Hall, which features a stately gold dome and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, remains the focal point of the university.

The Coalition Military Assistance Training Team took control of the site in March 2004 and began reconstruction two months later, said British Col. The training team members here include 16 British, two Danish, two Polish, three Hungarian, two Lithuanian, one Dutch and 12 U.S. troops.
The academy lies six miles southeast of Baghdad where, from aboard a Black Hawk helicopter, extensive transformation is visible from the dust and rubble surrounding reconstruction sites.
With a $100 million budget and detailed planning, the academy will develop into a great training environment, according to academy officials. The base is like many modern military bases and includes a basketball gymnasium, an Olympic-size indoor pool, study halls, base laundry, medical clinic, obstacle courses, weapons ranges, morale welfare and recreation buildings, base exchange, barber shop, motor pool compound, quartermaster store, an armory and warehouses.

    Military Schools
What Military Schools Have to Offer
    Military Schools General Rules
These types of schools all have very strict guidelines that must be followed, no exceptions. Most schools start at 6 am sharp, and all cadets are expected to be in formation fully dressed in their uniforms, with their boots polished. Girls that are in a military school are not allowed to wear bright nail polish, or lots of makeup. Their hair has to be either put up in buns, or cut above the collar of their uniforms. Most military schools will have their cadets called to formation before allowing them to have their meals.
Privileges are earned in a military school, if you want something you have to work for it. If a cadet wants to play a video game or go to town on the weekend, they have to earn this privilege. To earn these privileges, a cadet has to earn rank; you give nothing, you get nothing. Military schools do not allow any types of misbehaving, this includes fighting, the use of any drug, or sexual activities either in the school or when on leave to go into town. Being able to work together as a team is a requirement that is necessary from every cadet in a military school.
    Military Schools Not for Everyone
Military schools can be great for some children and help them to excel as an adult, but these schools are not for everyone. Some children would not be able to deal with this type of disciplinary school. Any child with the following problems probably would not do well in a military school. If they:

    Boot Camps
There are several types of teenage boot camps. There are short term and long term boot camps, there are state funded jail boot camps, prison boot camps, and privately owned boot camps. There are boot camps that will take teens who don't want to be there and boot camps that will only take willing participants. There are even weekend long boot camps. We believe that most teens will generally do better in a long term setting. If the teen is young and just beginning down a negative path sometimes a weekend wake-up call will help. The majority of the calls we take however, will need a longer stay, usually about 1 year. In most cases parent's have tried everything before they decide to seek outside help.
